Re: When staying in a hotel..

I always ask for King or Queen, but last week we were stuck in two doubles and we each had our own bed. Our dog sleeps with us, so we could NOT sleep in a double together. Plus the last time we did sleep in a double, I elbowed him in the forehead.. really hard.

Re: When staying in a hotel..

Usually we sleep in a king on vacation, but we have slept in a double when there were 2 double beds.

When we went on our cruise there were two twin beds catty corner to each other. To push them together would have involved rearranging the future in a 2 by 4 room, so we just slept in separate beds which after a few days got kind of lonely Chat Icon

if there is a mistake and no way of getting a king bed and the only other option are two beds, we sleep in the same bed ...

Re: When staying in a hotel..

We have a King at home and prefer a King when we travel. If we get stuck in a room with two double beds I like to sleep in my own bed, but DH gives me a hard time about it. He's all over the place in his sleep and drives me crazy. Usually, I'll start the night off with him and if he gets too annoying I jump into my own bed.

we always request a king size bed, never had a problem with it... but if we got 2 twins I would ask for another room...

Re: When staying in a hotel..

We stay more at timeshare rooms than hotels...they usually have 2 queens

We snuggle into one bed the first night or so...then if either one of us is having trouble sleeping or has sunburn etc...we split up

We are still in the same room and its almost fun at that point...just something different

Re: When staying in a hotel..

We request a king. I think if there were 2 quennes we'd probably sleep together. If for some odd reason it was 2 full size, I think we'd each take our own bed. We sleep on a king size at home.

We always specify non smoking room w/ king bed.......in the event a king wasn't available....we would snuggle up in the queen

We sleep in a Queen bed at home so if we get a room that has 2 queens beds we sleep in that together.

Re: When staying in a hotel..

Request a king, if it's not available we sleep in whatever they have available together. We wouldn't take separate beds - we're on vacation, I couldn't imagine not sharing a bed with DH on a trip.

Re: When staying in a hotel..

We have a king at home so we're pretty pizzed if we don't get one at a hotel.
We verify the king room at the desk.
If the hotel only has 2 queens, we sleep in one and use the other or sometimes stay in one bed until we're actually really going to sleep for the night and separate.
If it's twin beds we will definitely sleep in separate beds because we need some room.

We have to have a King

DH is 6'4" - he doesn't fit well in a Queen.

Same here ... DH is 6'5" - we always ask for King.

But aren't kings & queens the same length? It is full that is shorter.

We had a full bed for a while, so sleeping in a king was so weird! I felt so far away! We will always share the bed, and if there are 2, put crap on the other one.

But there's more room side to side for a big guy to spread out diagonally so the feet don't hang off the end.

ok, let me ask this

if you're used to a queen bed, that's one thing

but let's say you're used to a king, and one is not available

why is sharing the same bed always a "must"

especially when it's only for a few days

I am used to a queen, but we have been in situations where we have gotten two double beds. We have slept in the double together. Neither of us are very large people and while we cant sprawl out the way we might on a queen or king, there is still enough room to sleep comfortably.

Personally, I would rather cuddle than have room to spread out, if I have to choose between the two. A twin bed would be where I draw the line. I dont think we could comfortably sleep in a twin!
