It was very hard to put my cat down... I was crying so hard, that I made the vet and vet tech cry... but at the same time it was very peaceful....

I'm so sorry. The whole night sounds like a nightmare, I can only imagine how stressful and upsetting it was. Esp with your DS in tow.
I had a very similar experience with my cat 4 years ago - bringing her to an emergency place, she also had a heart attack (myocardial infarction as they called it), stabilized, brought her home only to have almost the same exact thing go on as you did with Puck and to ultimately have to have her put to sleep bc she was suffering. It breaks my heart to read the part where you said you were happy to bring her home and pet and love her. My heart truly goes out to you bc I felt the exact same way. No matter how right the decision is, it is still so hard obviously

Update: Well, we have made the decision to let our fuzzy guy go. His first night home he seemed okay, but he is going downhill. He can't seem to keep any water down, has not eaten since returning home and instead of wanting to sit on my lap he is sitting in the other room facing the wall. Anytime I bring him out to the room I'm in he gets up and goes back to his spot. I just can't stand seeing him like this. I know it is the right decision, but it is soooo hard. I realize that I'm lucky that it is my cat and not my child who is so ill and feel guilty for being so utterly distressed. I think that it's not only that I love this cat, but that I got him when my little brother was killed. In some odd way he helped me through that difficult time and I became so attached to him. I'm sorry to ramble on. I'm just so upset and angry that I have to say goodbye to him. Oh Heidi I am so sorry. In any circumstance it is hard to say good-bye to our furry loved ones, but it is particularly hard when there is another significance involved.
Many to you & your family.

I am so sorry for your loss. I just had to put my furry baby down ( he was 14 ) and it was awful. Here are some hugs.

Re: When things go wrong, they really go wrong (sorry for the length)Updated!! NEW UPDATE AND IT'S NOT GOOD!!!!
I am so sorry
I remember having to put my dog down. It as nearly a year after my Dad had a stroke, rehab, me moving back home with him... oh, so much stress
I remember thinking... "OK, God, now you are taking Niko? Oh, please give me a break. " Even one of my co-workers said to me... "OMG, now your dog?"
So I can understand when an animal has so much attachment to a stressful period in your life, they help us more than many people do
