when to schedule glucose test?

Does it matter when you schedule your glucose test? My OB said you dont need to fast so it doesn't matter and to go with my convenience... I just made an appt for 5pm which works great for me but now I'm wondering if its better to go in the morning?

Thoughts?

i just took it at noon and it was fine. i cant imagine that the time would matter too much, esp since u dont have to fast although my doc said nothing to eat/drink for 2 hrs prior. also, the drink wasnt bad at all...i actually liked it. hah.

I would do it in the morning but that's just because that's what i did...I got up, had a bowl of cheerios, then waited a little bit and drank the stuff and then you can't have anything after you drink it until the test.

I did mine first thing in the morning and didn't eat from 8 pm the night before, on. My OB's office gives you the drink to take home to drink 30 minutes before you go there so you only have to wait 30 minutes once there.

I was told you could have some protein in the morning before the test but no carbs or sugars because if your body does process them slowly, it will increase your chances for a false positive on the test. I just didn't want to chance it, and since it was so early in the morning, I wasn't really hungry anyway.

That being said, apparently my body is a glucose-processing machine because I passed with like a 104 or something. I did not change my diet at all prior to the test. (I had read that it's a bad idea to try to 'trick' the test because if you do have GD, it would be really bad for it to go undiagnosed.)

I would say morning is better so you don't have to starve yourself all day. If you don't mind, I think it's fine to do it in the evening but going all day with out eating for me is torture
