Nope I am giving out individually wrapped rice krispie treats so far a few teenagers have commented it was gay. I swear someof these kids have no manners
I would've told them to give it back, if it was so gay  Some people have no manners...

I am giving them candy. I did have one little girl say she "couldn't eat the gum", so I gave her a different piece.

Do you let them choose their own candy? Or do you just plop whatever into their bags?
In the past 20 minutes, I have had several complaints such as "I don't like what you just gave me" and "I want to pick my ownnnnnnnnnnnnnnn" (coming from a whiny 3 year old) and "Isn't there anything better?"
Call me an old witch, but when I was young, I would take what I can get and then trade with friends later on.
Makes me want to say back to them "Be grateful I even opened the door, you little sh!!ts!"

I usually give the candy out myself. I don't want their hands in my bowl!!! But I have yet to have 1 trick or treater

I have been giving each of the little kids 2 pieces and the big kids one. I agree that if the big kids don't dress up they don't get 2 pieces of candy!
I think the picky comments goes with the sense of entitlement that some kids feel today. Some kids think the deserve something. It makes me sick and I see it everyday as a HS teacher!

You have good stuff! I'm not partial to skittles or starburst myself, but I know lots of kids who are.
Sounds like some of these kids are brats!

I made bags up. We get so many kids that this is the quickest way to hand the candy out. Each bag has 4 pieces of candy in them - 2 snack size chocolates, a lollipop and a Hershey's candy.
The bags are paper, so the kids can't see what's in them. I did have one little girl ask if she could have 2 bags

omg they act like you are giving them toothpaste and a toothbrush lol which is what our neighbor who is a dentist used to give EVERY year! 
to answer the question- i take a huge handful b/c we always buy too much and i don't want it around the house after halloween and plop it in. i try to make it fast because, in my experience, they are always in such a rush while running from house to house.
i never thought to let them pick b/c it is a variety bag of five different candies and since i give such a big handful- they get at least one of each kind b/c they are mini's... snickers, butterfingers, milky ways, m&ms plain and peanut.
bratty kids! lol

The worst was when we got those little yellow boxes of pretzel sticks  but I never had the NERVE to complain!!!!

I just came back from taking my kids trick-or-treating. 99% of the people held out the bowl and let my kids pick. I made sure they took only 1.
