When u have a lot of weight to lose
How do you stay patient? I have 25lbs to lose, and this is the most i've ever had to lose (just had baby). I've always been on the thin side. First week i lost 5lbs, but second week only a half of a pound (fell off the wagon one day). I'm just so inpatient, its making me crazy that this is going to take so long. None of my clothes fit and i refuse to buy clothes for my new size. I have a few things that i can wear and i just keep repeating them. I'm really regretting all the pigging out i did when i was preggo! This is HARD!

Re: When u have a lot of weight to lose
I had about 23 lbs to lose when I started. Some weeks were big losses, some were small. It's SO hard to be patient but just think of how mad you will be if you don't do this now. My 2nd kid turned 2 before I found the willpower to do this!
I lost 17 lbs in 2.5 months, and I have 6-11 more to go (depending on whether I think I can go for five more once I hit goal )

Re: When u have a lot of weight to lose
Set small goals!!! That's the best way. I would tell myself I would lose a certain number of lbs in a month and I would feel better about my progress when I lost that amount of weight. Don't be discouraged. It can and will come off. I was back to my pre pregnancy weight by 4 months and 10 lbs below it by 6 months. With proper diet and exercise it does come off and sometimes quicker than you think.

Re: When u have a lot of weight to lose
When I started trying I had about 33lbs to lose. I literally got to the point where one day I broke down and cried because I hated how I looked and felt. I dont want to not be happy with who I am, so it was time. I was ready.
I started eating better. Realized that portion control was out of control, started eating more veggies and fruits etc. I also started tracking my daily food on sparkpeople.com. I lost 11lbs and 2inches off my waist.
Then I just lost my motivation I guess and feel off the wagon. I just couldnt get back on track. I wasnt gaining but I knew I wasnt doing anything good either. So I joined WW. I hate spending the money but its keeping me honest again. I have lost 6lbs in a month. But for the last 2 weeks I havent been really good about tracking and following my points, I also went back to drinking way too much soda.
So next week I am going to try to jump on again and get back to eating better, being more active etc.
Think small, think of a goal for the week, like I am not going to eat take out all week, or I am going to make fresh veggies with ever dinner all week, or I am not going to drink soda all week etc.
Dont focus on the # you want to lose because then it seems unmanageable. Also realize your second child is young and your body is still healing from 9 months of creating life. Plus as I keep telling everyone..that 2nd kid does you in!
Just be patient. Try making healthier decisions and it will happen!!

Re: When u have a lot of weight to lose
Like someone else said, set small goals. I set 5lb goals. I Try to be realistic and give my self 5-6 weeks to lose those 5lbs. I had/have a lot to lose too. My goal is 70lbs. I currently down 38! Took me 6 months, and that's with working out 5-6 days a week. I've had some very frustrating weeks too...I was plateauing for 6 weeks, was frustrating as hell and really made me want to just give up, but looking at how hard you are working towards our goal, just makes you want to reach it that much more.
Good luck!!

Re: When u have a lot of weight to lose
I also want to add, that I totally stopped stressing about it. Im very laid back when it comes to tracking over the weekend when we are all ver the place. However, whie i am laid back, i am still making healthy choices, but do allow a splurge (within reason). I know everything I'm doing is right, and the weight will come off. Losing it slowly is the healthy way to do it.
