When you mix fruit or veggies with cereal..
what's the ratio, and do you still put BM or formula in it?

start by wetting the rice cereal with the breast milk/ formula then I added half the fruit to the cereal in the beginning and as a few days went on slowly increased. Hope this helps.

I still put formula in it, or even fruit juice on occasion, and then add in the fruit or veggies.

Re: When you mix fruit or veggies with cereal..
i usually put in 4 tablespoons of cereal (dry) with a 4 oz. jar of fruit or veggie, b/c that is what DS likes. it's a very thick consistency.
you don't need to add BM or formula if you don't want to. start with 1 tablespoon and see what she likes. you can always add more.
if it's too "grainy" for you, and you are comfortable doing so, microwave it for 10-15 seconds, which will help the fruit/veg absorb the cereal better.

Re: When you mix fruit or veggies with cereal..
i mix 3 cubes of fruit with 2 1/2 tblsp of cereal, and an ounce of BM (when i nursed) or formula now.
imo i wouldnt microwave, youre making your own food, and it takes out the nutrients, so it would be purposeless for you to make it.

I just do this in the morning and make mine thick I don't really measure I eyeball it, but it's bc Chels likes texture in the beginning I did add BM/Formula to it to make it more smooth

Re: When you mix fruit or veggies with cereal..
really depends on where you are in the eating of chunky food. I can now do just cereal (3 tbsp) and a jar of fruit (stage 2) but that is pretty chunky. In the beginning I would add some formula so it was softer.

Re: When you mix fruit or veggies with cereal..
as of now-- I am doign all separate bowls, but I would like to make them more "meal like".
So, at night-- I am gonna do a veggie/cereal dish, with 1/2 fruit jar for "dessert".
In the AM, I am going to do fruit/cereal in one bowl.
I can make it how I have been doing it-- but I wanted to make sure one didn't overpower the other, etc.
thanks for the input!

Randi - They have dishes/bowls that have separators so you don't have to mix if you don't want to. Plus it's less cleanup.

Re: When you mix fruit or veggies with cereal..
I dont ever measure. In the am I make the oatmeal with formula and then she has fruit. I mix some fruit in sometimes, other times I give it to her after the oatmeal.
For dinner I give her 3 cubes of veggies and however much mixed grain cereal I feel like adding to it. If I put to much, I add a little water to it.
