When you need a little pick-me-up...
because you are feeling a little blue or stressed - what do you do cheer yourself up or relax?

Re: When you need a little pick-me-up...
Honestly, Iknow this will sound really cheesy, but since I had DS, I don't really feel like this anymore. I just play with him and realize what is important in life. Whatever was getting me down, usually is not important.

I'll go get a pedicure. It's an inexpensive pampering.

as odd as it may sound I take a nap..... I LOVE to sleep and if I'm feeling down or in need of a pick me up a nap usually energizes me and makes me feel better

Re: When you need a little pick-me-up...
it depends.
sometimes I ride it out, and let it take its course.
others, I start to plan something I LOVE to do. even if I am not feelin it at first, usually I get into the spirit of things.

Re: When you need a little pick-me-up...
If it's the weekend, and I can get to the beach, I like to go there and read a book. The sound of the waves is so relaxing to me.
If it's during the work-week, I like to park my car under a tree and read a book. It takes me away from the here-and-now and I enjoy being outside.
For a quick pick-me-up, I'll treat myself to a Dunkin Donuts Iced Coffee (in the winter a hot coffee).

Me too! When I'm stressed, I sleep. When I'm down, I sleep. Sleep seems to cure all for me!

Re: When you need a little pick-me-up...
I sneak a nap while DS is napping and coincidentally, we both just got up. I feel so much better.
Oooh and I eat something sweet too.

I shop or eat chocolate! Or eat chocolate while shopping!
I really believe that the chocolate endorphins help your mood!

Re: When you need a little pick-me-up...
It depends I have a few methods...
Sometimes I'll eat snacky junk food things like Frito Twists or cookie dough...
Other times I'll cook or have a drink and try to unwind.
To relax lots of times I'll grab a glass of wine and read a book or watch tv.

Re: When you need a little pick-me-up...
I wish I could say that I play with my kids whenever I feel stressed… but a lot of the time the stress is from being a mommy and not having enough ME time. I feel like an AWFUL person saying that – but it’s true. If I am stressed about work or about something someone said – my kids are an AWESOME cure… but if I just need to meet myself again – playing with my kids is not the way to go. So in those instances… I cook.
I make it an all day big affair. I call some friends and tell them to come for supper. Then I plan the meal. Then I shop for the ingredients. Then I cook.
I put out appetizers… something pretty and light and summery in the warmer months – like radishes with coarse salt and fresh pepper. Or maybe I will put out strawberries with a dollop sweetened sour cream or a peaches drizzled with a balsamic reduction. In the winter I will offer something homier, thicker, darker – fried ravioli with marinara or maybe scallops wrapped with thick pieces of smoked bacon.
I set the table with real plates and good serving dishes. I bake fresh bread or focaccia and put it out with aromatic oils to start. And I make centerpieces – flowers or fruits or something pretty and seasonal or interesting and funky.
I have courses. An amuse to start, Chilled or hot soup to start, a salad of some sort, a pasta, an intermezzo, an entrée – and dessert.
I don’t do these types of dinners family style. I serve everything so that the food is plated properly.
Then I watch while people enjoy.

This seems like something Martha or Rachel Ray would do...
I don't cook, I "prepare"...
I eat, shop, or sleep...

Re: When you need a little pick-me-up...
funny...I do things around the house that need to be done. I take care of stuff that is annoying or has been left undone.
I cook up a storm or I re-balance my investments..it gets my mind off of what I'm stressed about.
Sometimes, I just cry. Letting that out helps too. I've cried more this year than I have in my whole life.

my evil plan is now to say horrible things about you and get you sad and then invite myself over for dinner
for me: i sleep - i will go to bed at a ridiculous time like 7PM and I won't wake up until the morning and that is usually all I need to get me going again!
