When you stand in a long line, how do you behave?

I just came back from the post office and there was a VERY long line! this guy behind me was huffing and puffing the entire 20 minutes on line Chat Icon We are ALL annoyed by this line, but it's nice and cool in here so GET OVER IT! you’re not the only one on line. OMG I wanted to SLAP him Chat Icon

it got me thinking about my own behavior when I stand in line. I will definitely make an effort to stop myself from making any of those sounds. that does nothing to move the line any faster Chat Icon

Re: When you stand in a long line, how do you behave?

I have to say I'm a very impatient person and for my back standing still is the worst thing (walking around is better)so I am a big shifter, but I generally don;t huff and puff unless there's someone being really incompetent and that's holding up the line.

In my defense, I usually huff & puff at people in front of me who feel the need to keep two car lengths between themselves and the person in front of them!!! Chat Icon

When it comes to long lines, I am very patient. I can't stand huff and puffers and people that make a scene. It does nothing to make the line go quicker and it just gets annoying to listen to.

It totally depends where I am!!! In the post office I wont huff and puff cause there is a reason the line is long. If the line is long cause the cashiers are lazy, I do huff and puff!

Chat Icon Chat Icon
for me, it totally depends on the situation.
If it's a "well we gotta grin and bear it", I'll get to know everyone on line by the time I get to the front, why not chat away and pass the time Chat Icon

If its a ridiculuous situation that's holding up the line or holding up MY moving along, well here comes the squeaky wheel Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Again, it really depends...
Im pretty well behaved (compared to my toddlers Chat Icon )

Re: When you stand in a long line, how do you behave?

Me in a long line:

I stand there completely still (unless the line is moving) and stand in utter and complete silence.

Even when folks ask me questions, I disregard their existence completely.

It's very "rude" and obnoxious...but that's way I deal with being tense.

I stand quietly until it's my turn. If I need to occupy the kids, I do that.

I have had to kick DH (huff-puff/eye roll/sigh combination) off lines in the past. I grab his stuff & hiss "Go to the electronic section & I"ll come find you when I'm done paying." I would rather wait in line by myself than with him.

Re: When you stand in a long line, how do you behave?

I am guilty of being a huffer & puffer....I try my best to be patient but especially in the bank when I see tellers just standing around doing nothing & there is a line out the door, I get very impatient!!!

Re: When you stand in a long line, how do you behave?

I'm pretty patient, I'll usually stand there and just watch what's going on around me. I have been known to tell off some of the huffers and puffers and complainers, especially in a retail store. I worked retail for many years and know a long line is not the employee's fault. (well usually)
