When you were a kid, did your parents...?

Allow you to stay out until a quarter to 11 on a weeknight (school or no school) on the streets, screaming at the top of your lungs??? I don't remember being allowed to do that at 10 years old.

The kids in my complex are outside screeming at the top of their lungs, laughing, and such. They have done this before and my husband had to go out there and say something.

at the age of 29 i would never be able to do that outside my parents home... let alone at 10.

some people just don't have any consideration of others.

No.. was not allowed lol.. I had very strict parents though

They are off from school so thats probably why they are up so late.

When I was in 16 I still had an 11 oclock curfew, so helll no!

Geez, do you live in my old apartment complex?? Every, single time there was a school vacation, the kids were outside till all hours of the night screaming their freaking heads off

When there was no school, we used to hang out outside my house until late - though we were never screaming. Usually just sitting on the curb talking.

Well, I had to be in bed by 9:30PM until I was SIXTEEN, so I'm thinking at 10 yrs old ... not so muhc out on the streets screaming

I had to be inside by the time it was dark out! Winters would s uck cause it was dark so early lol

No. I had an 11pm curfew in HS too.

ETS: Even after I was 21 my dad would give me a hard time for coming in after midnight

No I was not allowed to this new generation is very interesting they are outside until all hours of the night i don't know whats wrong with these parents. At the age of 10 I was in bed by 10 or 11 no matter school day or holiday same procedure my parents would tear my butt up if I was outside playing still at that time.

We stayed out LATE every night when we had off from school.

Difference was, our moms were outside with us (Queens = stoop sitters)...and we KNEW not to scream or yell or bother others. Once it got too late, we were allowed to stay out BUT we had to plau quiet games. The bikes and skates went in way before and we played things that wouldnt bother other people. And again, parents or at least one parent was always with us.

my parents would kick my a$$ if i did that now and im 30..LOL

during the summer sometimes i was allowed to run around until 10 playing tag or something. but my mother was always on the porch. she was like the neighborhood watch..LOL

I had a curfew up until I moved out of my mother house when I was 26!!

hells friggin no.

my curfew was 9 pm on a weeknight until I graduated FROM HIGH SCHOOL.

10 pm on a weekend night until I TURNED 18!!!!!!

I did have friends that ran about like that, but my parents would have beaten me to death, literally.

ETA: yes, summer stoop nights we got some slack, but we were regulated to our airy gate...not running up and down the street.

I LOVED summer stoop nights.

I should add that to my other thread, b/c my new house doesn't have a stoop either

No way. My parents were pretty strict. I had to be in before the sun went down.

At 10 y/o I had to be in bed at 9, so that would be a no. I think if we had no school I could stay up until 10 but certainly not 11.

We had the same rule, in the house when the streetlights came on. And my friends loved coming to my house to sit on the stoop!!

It's funny bc now I stay up late and I feel so liberated bc I'm an adult with a house of my own and I can do what I want!!
