When Your DC is off night schedule due to holidays or events....?

We got home last night at 10:15. DD was put down at IL's at 7pm. i woke her, placed her in the car and came home. It took her 1 1/2 hr of crying before she finally fell alseep. I didnt know what to do so i just rubbed her back.
What do u do in a situation like this?

Well, we don't put her to bed early if we're out. This way she passes out when we go home. That being said, if she has a hard time going to bed when we get home, we repeat her bedtime routine and it always has done the trick.

I agree, we just do the bath at 10 (or whatever time we get home) he always wakes up at the same timein the morning amazingly enough...

No, we do a bottle before bedtime every night, so he has his milk when he goes to bed. Keep in mind Noah is almost 2...

I just wanted to add that when Ava was taking a bottle, yes, we'd actually give her another bottle. It always "tricked" her into thinking it was bedtime again. She'd never take the whole bottle, but it would soothe her.

Cailen NEEDS his bottle to go to sleep, so even if he just ate, he still wants that bottle to get back to sleep - even if he takes a few sips from it...

Nancy, why don't you give her an ounce or 2 to trick her into going back to sleep. Rock her and then put her back down.

I do the same for example, last night dd had a bottle at 6:30. when we got home from IL's at 8:30, I gave her another small bottle and she went to sleep, a few extra ounces won't hurt

honestly...Im bad...I left where we were early last night ot get DD home close to her regular bed time...she is not good with her schedule being thrown off and I knew we'd all pay the price in the AM. she gets up EARLIER when we keep her up later. UGH.
