I say wallet and DH says glovebox. Me saying wallet goes back to when you could sign over car on back of registration. Now its just stubborness

I used to keep it in my wallet and then my DH looked at me like I was crazy. It is now in my glove box.

In the glove compartment. Along with my insurance card. I always thought it was weird when I saw my moms registration card in her wallet.

I never keep it in the glovebox. Should anyone ever break into your car, they will know where you live. Should anyone steal your car, they will have "proof" that they borrowed it from you.
My insurance card and registration are in my purse. Not in my wallet though - in another case.

You should NOT keep anything in your car with your personal information..
NYS REQUIRES you to have your INSURANCE CARD on you at ALL Times... You are NOT required to have your registration, b/c your registration is on your front windshield... Yes, when you get pulled over, you are asked for your License, registration and insurance card.. It is habit on our part to have the reg in our hands at the time of a car stop and it makes our life easier, but is not required...
As far as people saying they "borrowed" your car if it is infact stolen, we (police) ask a few more questions than to just see a registration...
Please be vigilant as to where you keep your personal information.. It IS just that.. Personal!!!!!

Being my purse is on me at all times, so is my insurance card and reg. I always keep them together. That's why they're in there and not in my glove box.
And when I said "proof", I merely meant that it would be presented that way to a PO who may have pulled someone over. I'm sure more questions would be asked but unless there was something suspicious in the answers or behavior, the PO wouldn't know that this driver did not have permission to operate the vehicle.

I have the reg for my truck, and a photocopy of DW's car reg in my wallet, and DW has her reg and a photocopy of my truck reg in her wallet.

then we needed it when someone hit us and my wallet was at home...DH was so angry! The cop said it's supposed to be in the car at all times...
and it's still in my Wallet!
I thought this too- but DH is a cop and said that you technically do not need that little card on you. He said the registration that is fastened to your windshield is all you need. He said it contains all the info the cop would need- but that most don't feel like having to copy it off there- especially in the dark- so that is why they ask you for the piece of paper.
But by law- the sticker is all you need!
I have fought him on this- but he laughs at me. (I'm just a dumb civilian I guess! )
