Agreed! DS is alittle older now (18 months) but we have stuff to do every day if we choose.
I live in the smithtown/commack/KP area...we got to town beaches, sunken meadow (after 4 its free and we walk the boardwalk), more parks than I can tell you. We joined a meet up group which has introduced us to so many new places. Holtsville ecology center, hoyts farm...
On rainy days its harder, the mall, do our shopping errands. We just found a "play place" they are in East Northport and do open play a few times a week. Tons of toys great for a rainy day....

in Islip
First- I LOVE your screen name; it made me chuckle!
There is brookwood town hall park in Islip. That's my favorite. It's not big but you can feed the ducks as well as play on the playground.
There is a cute elementary school park that is right off of connetquot ave in Islip.
There's always islip the town where you can walk around and window shop then get some Ralph's ices ...yum!
The Arborateum (sp?) is in Islip as well as Hecksher St park. Hope that helped!

Re: where do you SAHM's go with your kids?
In the same parking lot at Gemport. Its called Tumbling Tunes (I think) The owner is my niece's preschool music teacher so we went the other day.
The have an art area, music instruments, dress up, kitchen, baby area, books, puzzles and some little gym equipment. I went with an 18 month old, 3 yo and 4 yo and all were entertained for the hour.
THey have gymnastics/music classes as well but I havent tried them out yet. The open play is $6 for 1child, 10 for 2 and 12 for 3.
Good for a rainy day if you need a change of scenery.
