We loved all the Austin Powers movies, and I just really liked the name "Austin".

If I ever have a son, I wish I could name him Austin, but now it's too late.

DH is from Alabama and he's a huuuuuuuge Alabama Crimson Tide fan, so that's where Bama comes from.

Gunnar: It was 1990 and I loved the Nelson brothers. I was 16 and got a kitten, so I named him Gunnar after one of the twins
Who knew the cat would live forever and that name would haunt me?

Scout: My favorite book ever is To Kill a Mockingbird. Scout is the adorable little girl's name in the book.

min pins are small dogs that just don't know it....they act like they were BIG dobermans..

Abby- Who knows, we were in the car on the way home from getting her and I said she looks like an Abby and DH said, ya know she DOES...

Cats-
Terror- As a kitten he was insane, I mean INSANE...now hes the 22 lb ball of fluffy love , most WELL behaved cat I have ever had!

Sonny- Was my moms cat , we got her when my mom moved, no idea why she named him that.

Bella- Loved the name for a girl..

Bailey is after DH beloved Grandmothers 2nd favorite drink...her first was Guiness (I didn't like it for a female)

Boomer....just something we came up with but call him Bubba more than anything....he just looks like a Grumpy old man!

Deisel- my DH thought it was hysterical naming a tiny, fluffy, persian ball o' fluff, Deisel

Luna- her name at the shelter was MoonGlow, so we wanted to preserve her past. Also, we always seem to buy Luna diLuna pinot....

We couldn't agree on a name and we did a search on the computer, and Bella popped into my head, and at the same time my husband saw the name on the computer,and it stuck.
if she was a boy dog we would have named her Guinuess

My husband named them. When we first found out we were getting two kittens we wanted names that went together because they are brother and sister. Since my husband's favorite food is ravioli we name them "Ravi" and "Oli".

Our last rescue cat is Sugar (pronounced "Sugahhhh") cause she is just so damn sweet.

Kanga is an Australian Cattle Dog. So it's short for Kangaroo

Justice: Luved the name after I saw Poetic Justice w/ Janet Jackson- That was her name.

Kiara: We couldn't think of a name for our American Bulldog. So my husband said "what was her Mother's name?" On her papers it said her Mom's name - KIARA. BAM there we go . ( She looked just like her Mom too.

we always name our dog a human name - we used ot have jack but had to put him to sleep and when we got our new puppy he seemed like a louie!

My fave boss (who passed away ) had a name starting with the letter "M" and I wanted to honor him in some way...or think about him daily I guess

Lukin Von Hamburg
-our favorite band is Pearl Jam, so one night we were brainstorming names and i was trying to think of a PJ song.... "Jeremy"? no, thats not a good dog name..... "Lukin" was another song (i later found out was named after matt lukin of the band mudhoney) so i named him that. i figured it is a pretty uncommon name and i liked Luke for short.
the "von hamburg" is just cuz he is a german breed.

Tinkerbell Madonna Blu.
-we could NOT agree on a name for anything. i had a long list of names that included: fiona, bitsy, madonna, kyra, chloe.... then a commercial for DisneyWorld came on with a little girl catching fireflies and she asks if its "tinkerbell". so i was lik e"tinkerbell is cute, you like that?" and he agreed, so that was it.
the madonna blu came from the singer (i really wanted to name her madonna at first) and her gorgeous baby blue eyes.

Dharma Margorate Dior
-we used to watch channel 11 at night and 'dharma and greg' came on everynight at 1am... i just REALLY like the name dharma. the character i could take or leave. so i figured Dharma is a unique name for a unique dog. she looked like a Dharma.
the margorate dior is because her name she came with was "maggie" and i figured maggie is usually short for Margorate, so i kept that as an omage to her past... and dior is just cuz she is so fancypants.
*interestng fact, although i adopted her i found out who her breeder was and got in touch with her... turns out Dharma's moms name is----get this!--- Dharma! so it was kismet.

Saffron Sweetie Darling
(call name Saffron)
-if you have ever seen "AbFab" you know where i got it from. we thought he was a girl when we found him, so he was "saffy", which is short for Saffron, a character on Absolutely Fabulous.
the sweetie darling comes from patsy and eddie. they always say "sweetie darling"

I just the names come to me. Pyxie & Loki both took almost 2 weeks for their name to come. Fascinus and Foxy came with their names, and Brubo just looked like a Bruno. (Although I call him the fabulous Bruno Magli when DH isn't around) Pyxie's name was Six Gems Petite Princess Rose Brewster

We named her Sandy after our favorite bartender in Huntington VIllage

and because she is a sandy color (brown)

Ashes: he is charcoal grey & I am a funeral director.....(like Ashes to Ashes!!).....need I say more!

Nitro: DH LOVES NHRA racing & the color on his belly is the same tan color as the cloud of gas that comes out the back of the cars!!

Pesto got his name because Harry and I still hadnt decided on a name and I was talking to Harry and asked him if he wanted Pesto sauce for dinner and the cat came running and sat at me feet!! I said to him..." I guess thats your name huh?"

Peanut-

Well, when we were trying to pick out a puppy I saw her first and fell in love. So DH said since I picked the dog he got to pick the name. Originally she was named Foxy since her face looked exactly like one. But then we decided it didn't fit her. So the we were talking out Pumpkin since her hair was orange/sable. That one didn't work either. Then out of no where DH said "hey peanut" (she was less then 2 lbs.) and she turned around. It stuck.

But now she has a million names including Peanut Butter, Girly girl, and baby. (scary to think she responds to all of them).

We were thinking of a variety of names...

Romeo was a runner up...

BUT, I said how about Mocha ...Dh said, No thats a girl's name-he said how about MOCHO (SP IN SPANISH???) which is the spanish word for Booger....we laughed... after hours of thinking about this name... and we decided on Boogie....then when we got him , we knew that the same suited him well because he was moving around like a wild man... so boogie -as in a dancing machine

LOL the thought concept worked for us
