We go to bed at 10pm. She wakes at 1am to go out, then 3am, then 4am and then 5am for a poop. Then she's up for the morning and we have to feed her! We can't wait for her bladder to get larger so she sleeps longer!!!!!

Re: wheres all the sleep deprived puppy mommies?
Mine cried the first 2 nights for like 30 minutes-which kept us up obviously--then randomly for 3 nights she kept us up ALL night, she was on medicine--I think it was bothering her--then after that she has been fine--We never let her ou in the middle of the night--i didn't want to set a pattern. Is ur dog crated??

Re: wheres all the sleep deprived puppy mommies?
My dogs stopped going at night in a few weeks. Around 12-14 weeks old.
It does get better, at least at night. But now they do wake us up sometimes, b/c they start walking around and try to get out of our bedroom. Not to go out though, they want to play at 5am!!!

Re: wheres all the sleep deprived puppy mommies?
Well, we relented. She now sleeps in our bed and sleeps throughout the night until 6am, but on 7/4, she slept until 7am to allow us time to sleep in before she woke us up.
We wanted her to sleep in our bedroom later on, but we were just fearful she'd pee in our bed, but thus far, no accidents.
My MIL suggested I get a crib sheet liner to put where she sleeps in the bed incase she does have an accident.
And yes, our puppy is crate training - she's in there right now and I'll be going home in 3 hours to let her out, feed her, walk her and play with her, so she sleeps during the afternoon.

I'm in the same boat as you Betsy...since i'm such a lite sleeper and Riley screams in the crate at night...she now sleeps in between DH and I...Fortunately she will whine when its time to potty....last night she only woke up once at 3AM...then got up with DH when he woke up for work! I'm hoping soon she will be out for the night!

She's been sleeping through the night. I curled up on my DH last night to find that she took my place on his tummy and legs, so I had to go back to sleeping by myself.
She hates being crated, though. She'll go in it when we're home to rest and get out of the sun, but if we lock her in there when we go to work, she pees constantly. I don't get it!

Re: wheres all the sleep deprived puppy mommies?
Well last night Riley slept the whole night
Riley hates being crated too....she screams in there...hence my reasoning to keep her in bed with us, so I would sleep...but with me coming up to NY for the next month and DH being able to sleep thru a train wreck...she is going in the crate and will have to learn to like it.

Re: wheres all the sleep deprived puppy mommies?
For the first month we had Bella in a crate at night and she was up all of the time just crying, we got so frustrated that we brought her into bed with us, and she has been sleeping through the night ever since!! She didn't like her crate at night, but she is fine in there during the day. She is actually still crated during the day. Today when I came home early, she didn't even want to get out and greet me, she put her head back down and when back to sleep!!

Re: wheres all the sleep deprived puppy mommies?
Friday - Sunday - no accidents in the crate or in the kitchen by Daisy!!!!
She goes to the back door or will sniff her away around if we have her upstairs to give us the cew she needs to go out. We just have to watch her.
So YAY!!!!
Now we just need to work on her biting everything and everyone in sight!! She's getting bored with her toys and going after my feet and DH's and any guest that comes into our house.

Get a puppy pal from Target. It costs like $5. You put it in the cratewhen it's time for bed after putting in the micro for 30 seconds. See if that works.
Also, out vet suggested we sleep elsewhere, and when she cried, to take her out to pee, and then put her back in the crate rght away without playing with her, or holding her. This worked and she learned, but we were getting exhausted from the lack of sleep or sleeping in intervals.

Re: wheres all the sleep deprived puppy mommies?
what is the puppy pal? Does it give off a scent that relaxes them?
well DH had a rough night with Riley...she was up whining most of the night, then when he got up to take her out she peed on the floor...after her put her back in the crate...she then threw up twice and peed in the crate! So he had a long night...hopefully it will get better..she hates being in that crate so much

puppy pal looks like a small stuffed animal, but it's filled with beads. You put it in the micro for 30 seconds and set it next to the dog when it sleeps at night. It acts as a second body of heat for the dog. It was $5 at Target. Our puppy chews on the ears and then falls asleep on it.
aaaawww, it will get better over time. Try taking away her water in the crate at night. We did that and saw she had less accidents in the crate.

Re: wheres all the sleep deprived puppy mommies?
So last night was the first whole night Riley slept in the crate....DH was up many times with her...mainly just b/c she was whining sooo much...he said he couldn't believe the sounds she was making!
I saw that a few of you ladies keep your pups in different rooms...is it worth it? b/c I like keeping her near just in case she gets sick in the crate or has an accient.

Before we suckered into her sleeping with us. We had her in her crate on the kitchen floor, so when we heard her crying, we could grab the leash and taker her right outside without missing a step.
Now that she sleeps with us, we make her sleep in her bed that is pushed up against our head board. She sleeps in there with her blanket, her puppy pal, a chew toy (nylabone) and that's it.
She stays in it all night and will lick my husband when she needs to go out, or will wait until our alarms go out. We've been doing this for 2 weeks without any accidents.

yeah I think she is having some anxiety though, b/c I'm away in NY and I took our other two dogs up with me... So DH is going to try again tonight and put her in the crate...i told him to go get a puppy pal, but i doubt he will remember!
hope everyone gets a good night sleep
