Which Disney Parks are good for 2 and 4 yr. old?
We are planning a trip for 2011. We are trying to figure out how many days we will need.
We definetely want to do Magic Kingdom (how many do you recommend) and Sea World (which we will do in 1 day).
What about Universal, Epcot and MGM??? Are they good for kids that age or should we skip? How many days each?
ETA: So I just check the Disney World website...they dont have Universal anymore? Is that now Hollywood Studios?
Is there still MGM?
Animal Kingdom is new since I've been there last. Is that a 1 day thing?

Re: Which Disney Parks are good for 2 and 4 yr. old?
I think MGM (now, hollywood studios) is a "pass" -- more adult/teen oriented, IMO. I would go to Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom. Epcot may not be as fun because there aren't as many rides for kids and character greetings, etc.
I would think you need 2 days for magic kingdom and 1 day for animal kingdom (we did it in 1/2 day but we didn't have kids with us). You may also want to set some time aside for hotel pool + your 1 day at seaworld so I'm thinking 4-5 days total for the trip.

Re: Which Disney Parks are good for 2 and 4 yr. old?
universal is a whole other company..not related to Disney at all!
Disney has 4 parks: Magic Kingdom Hollywood Studios (Used to me MGM) Epcot Animal Kingdom then they also have Downtown Disney (shops, restaurants, etc)
I am going in in October with a 3 yr old and almost 2 yr old and I plan on hitting all 4 parks...Epcot mainly for me and my DH but def the other 3 for the kiddies! MK for obvious reasons, H.S. bec they have a section for playhouse disney so if your kids are like my kids and watch all those shows like MM Clubhouse, Handy Manny, Little Einstein, etc. they will mainly see those characters there! And Animal kingdom is great for the animals and Disney animal characters like nemo, etc!
I went years ago, but this is my first time as a parent so I did a lot of research on DIS Boards The "professional" Disney moms and dads were a big help on deciding what hotel, restaurants, parks, activities, deals that aren't always obvious to do while down there! And now that everything is booked I still go on there to learn other ideas! DEF recommend checking it out!
Happy Planning!

Thanks! I definetely want to hit every park whether it is mostly for the kids or mostly for DH and I...I haven't been on a Disney vacation in over 10 yrs and I know alot has changed.
Do you think a 4 or 5 day park hopper pass is sufficient? And than in addition we'll do 1 day at Universal and 1 day at Sea World in addition.

Universal Studios is NOT part of WDW. They are separate amusement park along with Islands of adventure - if you think you want to do both you could drive, take a taxi or stay at one of the Universal hotels. We haven't done that yet so I can't comment - but they have I believe 3 hotels - a Polynesian theme, the hard rock hotel and an Italian themed resort.
At WDW you will find - Magic kingdom, EPCOT, MGM is now called Hollywood Studios (they just changed the name nothing major at the park) and Animal Kingdom. Then there are 2 water parks if you are interested - blizzard beach and typhoon Lagoon.
Honestly they are all great for young kids - BUT it greatly depends on your children to which parks you might like best.
MK and EPCOT are the top two I would suggest. Then depending on your kids and family some love HS and not AK, some love AK and not HS and some love both. HS has some rides but many have height requirements like tower of terror and rock n roller coaster. Then the rest of the park is mainly shows (there is also toy story mania ride, great movie ride, backstage tour) and a honey I shrunk the kids playground. AK has some rides and some viewing of animals.
I do want to warn you that WDW is doing a major renovation/overhaul to toontown and fantasyland. So there will be closings and renovations going on. Toontown is supposed to close later in 2010 to make room for the new installations. It is scheduled to open in 2012 and I think 2013. So not sure how that will effect your trip - they are redoing dumbo and barnstormer and adding a lot of things.
We are leaving this week - and I am taking DD#1 who will be 3 on Father's day (her last trip she was 15 months) and DD#2 who will turn 1 on our trip. We are planning to spend the majority of our time at the MK and EPCOT and one morning at HS and one morning at AK. We might go back to AK another morning IF the girls like it.
I assume since you are thinking of Seaworld and Universal that you would rent a car? Otherwise it is hard to get to those parks. If you plan to just go to WDW you can use the WDW transportation (Magical express to and from the airport - they get your luggage and deliver it to your room) all the WDW transportation is free. If you don't want a car for the time you are there - you CAN do a day or two rental at one of the hotels -I think there is a WDW car rental location and I know there is one at the Dolphin near EPCOT.
Honestly how much time you need depends on your family. For us - we don't try to do a full day in the parks. We are there at rope drop, tour until lunch, then we go back to our hotel, nap and swim, then return to a park in the evening for dinner and a few more rides. You will need less time if you do it more "commando" and spend more time in the parks rather than taking breaks.
Etd to add my DD loved EPCOT last trip - we did spaceship earth, journey into your imagination, finding nemo and turtle talk with crush, there are a lot of character meet and greets all around the park, we also did the Mexican ride with donald duck and the norway ride. Then there is living with the land. If your child is over 40 inches there will be other rides that they can do as well. Additionally DD liked to walk around world showcase - they have acrobats in china, various performers in other countries as well.

My DS was 22 months when we went. MK he loved, AK he loved (he is an animal nut and could have spent all day in their petting zoo area) Epcot he loved the fireworks.
We did these 3 parks in 5 days and it was perfect. We are planning another trip later this year and I want to do MGM, seaworld and universal.

As a DVC owner, I would definitely say you will need at least 2 days at MK and definitely 1 full day at Animal Kingdom! Hollywood Studios, to me, is more for older kids and adults, but if you went at Christmastime, I would definitely say to walk through with the kids because they have a great thing called the Osborne lights, it's fascinating! Other than that, Epcot is more for adults too, but they great fireworks at night, and there's lots of characters there during the day!

re: seaworld. We went to Seaworld (San Diego) when DC were 1 & 3 and they really could have cared less.

Re: Which Disney Parks are good for 2 and 4 yr. old?
We just got back. Both my girls LOVED the Magic Kingdom and EPCOT (finding nemo ride, turtle talk with crush, the living seas exhibits, journey into your imagination with the interactive exhibits after the ride, spaceship earth, innovations, the boat ride in Mexico and in Norway - and there are a LOT of character meet and greets that were easier to get to than at MK).
We did Hollywood studios for one morning - they both LOVED toy story mania, the buzz and woody meet and greet, the playhouse disney show, the honey I shrunk the kids playground, muppets 3D and they loved walking around the back lot - seeing Lightening macqueen etc.) We had lunch at Sci Fi Drive In which was a BIG hit with DD#1 - you sit in booths IN cars - and the whole restaurant is like a drive in movie lot - you eat under the starts with a big movie screen showing clips.
We did Animal Kingdom one morning - they loved the boneyard, dinosaur spin ride like dumbo, the safari ride, meeting a lot of characters, we wanted to do more but it was so hot that day they passed out in the stroller and wanted to go and swim instead.

Re: Which Disney Parks are good for 2 and 4 yr. old?
We went to disney in April my kids were 2 and 3.
They loved MK (obviously). We did the hopper but concentrated on MK.
Animal Kingdom -We were able to get lots of signatures and pictures (pocahontas, goofy, donald, daisy, mickie and minnie, thumper, terk) . We ate at rainforest cafe, did a few rides and left. The pictures took up a majority of the day.
Epcot -We walked around, saw some other characters (Belle and Beast). They loved the Nemo ride.
Hollywood Studios We were only there for a half day, but i was a great half day.
They loved the playschool disney section. We got pics with Handy Manny, Little Eintsteins). We saw the little mermaid show, the playhouse show and they were both really good!
