Which is better BJ's or Costco?
I want to join one of these wholesale clubs. I live close to both. I have no idea which one to join. Any thoughts?

BJs is good for home stuff -- better food selections, sometimes they have really good clothes, etc.
Costco is great for businesses....
If I had to choose 1, i'd go w/ BJs.

We go to Costco but to be honest...I think we would go to BJs if it was more convenient.

I like BJ's because I get my gas from there (on 110) - its always less expensive then the regular gas stations.

Costco is $45/year
Costco only takes Amex CC, whereas BJ's takes MasterCard, VISA, or Discover

BJ's--great for buying Gas (rt. 110), they have a lot of brands that you might already use (costco doesn't have a lot of brand options), they sell things in smaller quantity than costco, so it's not sooo overwhelming....
Costco-MUCH, MUCH better on quality of meat and fruit/veggies...better deals on books/dvds, bakery department is bigger, the clothes tend to be nicer than BJ's....the downside is the store is much more intimidating, and crowded.....
I have a BJ's membership, and my mother has costco..so we go shopping together and split things up......

You should visit both to see what you prefer. I have a membership to both (I live in the city so neither is near me) and I prefer BJs. While I say that, i went to the BJs in Brooklyn yesterday and did not like it at all. I prefer the one in East Rutherford. The aisles are shorter that Costco, they are labled (not a big deal if you go through all the aisles but MUCH easier if you are running in for just a few things!). Also, BJs has an express lane, sells magazines and cards. BJs allows a 1-day pass and you just have to pay a little premium, I think 10%? Costco doesn't allow 1-day passes (at least they did not used to allow it).

I just joined BJ's yesterday. They were having a promotion- Instead of $40 for 12 months it was $36 for 15 months.
The promotion is probably still running.

We do the same in my family. If I lived closer to BJs, I'd go there for the gas. Since Costco is closer I wind up going there.

Even though BJ's is closer, we joined Costco. I like their meats and we get most of our essentials there for a good price.

I like BJs food selection better (especially their meat departemtn).
If you are a new member... BJs will give you three months free and a discount on their membership price.
If you are a homeowner... BJs will also give you discounts to buying home oil if you aren't locked into an oil contract.

DH gets a discount for BJs memberships through work. I think it wa $25 for the year. I've never been to Costco.
