Which stroller for trip to NYC
I have a graco Metrolite, Britax umbrella, and Peg Perego Pliko to choose from. I have taken all 3 in at some point over the last few years... We are taking the train to Penn then walking to the tree. Will be taking winter coats, a blanket, and a back pack...

I know you have a lot of stuff to carry but bear in mind the crowds around the tree. I say go for the slimmest one!

Re: Which stroller for trip to NYC
I'm unfamiliar with the strollers and age of your kid. If your kid is young, bring the stroller that would have him highest off the ground. In crowds, low strollers become invisible.

This! I'd probably bring the umbrella stroller since it's crowded and you will want something light weight to push around/carry.

Which stroller for trip to NYC
Smallest lightest stroller. I just had DS in last fri and trains and subways are a nightmare with a bigger stroller....not all have elevators. I know you said you are walking but plans can change based on weather etc.
And the crowds around the tree are a nightmare with a stroller in general. I dit it last year and vowed to never do it again!

I agree - one year we had my oldest in the bugaboo and people were literally climbing OVER him in the stroller - THAT was a nightmare, and a very loud "WTH are you DOING?" from me ........ It's a madhouse this time of year, and people are disgusting.
I'd bring the lightest stroller and have someone hold youir child when you get near the insanity

Which stroller for trip to NYC
I just went on Wednesday with DH and DD who is 1. I brought my Graco travel Lite. I have an umbrella stroller and a jogger but I went with that one because its the most comfortable for DD. I could put her rain cover on and block the wind. Its also has the most padding for the bumping along city blocks. Its alot for them so I would take the most warm and comfy stroller. We did the subway and train and just used the elevators.

Re: Which stroller for trip to NYC
I'd skip the stroller all together & wear your child. A couple of years ago I was in a similar situation with St. Patrick's day & my 3 year old.
I finally convinced myself to spend the $ on an ergo carrier & it was the best decision ever. I liked having him on me, especially being it snowed that day...he had extra warmth & he could see the parade being he was up high & not looking at people's legs all day. We could talk too!
We're actually going into the city this weekend. He's 5 now & when he complains he can't walk anymore - he's going right in the carrier!

Which stroller for trip to NYC
People think we are nuts but I can't even tell you how amazing it is - get into the city at 600 am!
We just did this on Sunday morning. We got up at 4, got ready, got the kids up and ready and were in the car by 515. We literally parked on 5th ave in front of American Girl. The tree is completely lit, there was MAYBE 15 other people around the entire plaza. No crowds, no people in your shots. The ice rink is open if you want to go.
We then walked up to Macy's - got online at 745 to see Santa which opened at 8. We were walking back to our car by 8:45 am.
It's really the only way to do these things with young kids. Dealing with all the tourists and crowds is not worth it.

Re: Which stroller for trip to NYC
how old is your child? if they're less than about 40 pounds, I would get or borrow an Ergo carrier, or some sort of hiking backpack carrier with the crowds- its awesome to be able to have your kid on your back and not be pushing a stroller into people's ankles and stuff and you can just keep him in there on the train, AND when you go up or down the subway steps and stuff. DS turned 4 in November, and this weekend when we went to see the tree, we put him in our REI hiking backpack. ( he also used the Ergo up until recently, too). he LOVES it bc hes up high on DHs back and can see around better then he can in as stroller, and like I said- its great to not be pushing a stroller into people ankles lol we also used it when we went to Boston this summer, too- again great and easy for getting around a city! I'm really surprised they're not more popular- I can't tel you how many people comment on it when we have him in it in different places.

Re: Which stroller for trip to NYC
OMG just reading this thread and thinking about having a small child and/or a stroller near that madness is giving me hives and a panic attack!!!
That 5 am idea sounds amazing though!! I think that is the only way I would be able to deal with it

I agree with using an Ergo carrier. That is my go to for any crowded places.

Re: Which stroller for trip to NYC
My son is 5 (35lbs) but is special needs. We go into the city every year but I wasn't sure what the weather was going to be like and didn't want to be stuck with the lightweight stroller and him being cold. We are going today and I am going to bring the Graco Metrolite as it has the most room. ANd he is comfy in it.. Can't use the Peg Perego as I took the seat cover off to wash it and can't figure out how to get it all back together :/
I am use to the city crowds. They don't scare me.. I have been in there so many times with kids.. And if you stop short in front of me, you will get mowed down.... The only thing that kind of scares me now is the protestors...
