Who are you inviting to visit you at the hospital after the baby is born?
Am I the only one who doesn't want a lot of visitors?
I think I'd be tired and want to rest and want privacy. The last thing I'd want is to see a lot of people after going through labor and delivery.

my honest thought is anyone who wants to come see us can come see us. simple as that.
yes, i'll be tired, but if my friends and family are willing to go out of their way to see us - then that makes me happy!

Honestly, there is not much you can do about it. Dh told his mom that we didn't want a lot of company on Monday, the day after I had DD.
WE had a ton of people on Sunday. Which was great.
But very tiring.

I am SO GLAD you posted this !!!! I told my Dh the same thing and he thinks I am a freak ! I told him only our fathers and my sister and that's it ! ( his mom passed away and i am not close with my mom) . I don't want any visitors actually no friends or extended family
I will see everyone after I get home

honestly I would much rather people come to the hospital first so I don't get bombarded the first couple of days at home with the baby.

I don't think it's about "inviting". It's a matter of word getting out and people wanting to come. You cannot really stop them. One would think only close people would come to the hospital. I'd only expect my family and maybe a few cousins and friends. But I'd kind of want to see them!

This is my attitude as well.. the more the merrier.. just dont stay all day!!! I think the ones who matter the most will be there, people know its propper to wait until you get home.. who wants to see me in my hospital gown?

I don't think you can really control who comes to visit you. As soon as you tell a few people you had the baby, that is when everyone close to you will know. Most will come visit you, especially family.
I wouldn't worry about it so much. That is why hospitals have set hours for people to come visit.

I want anyone and everyone to come! We are doing the whole "Call everyone, even parents AFTER labor and delivery" so once that is over, I want everyone there to visit the 3 of us!

ITA... I understand you'll be tired, but friends and fam that care enough to go out of their way and see you in the hospital should mean a lot.

I dont necessarily want a lot of visitors.
I think the only ones who will come to visit are our parents and our sisters.
And even then, not all of my sisters may be able to come based on when I have the baby. My hospital is a good 45 min to an hour from my sisters homes, depending on traffic.

ITA...Dh has a large family so it might be better to see everyone at the hospital and be able to relax a little more when we are home

exactly, everyone is excited and want to share in the happiness.
One night we had about 35 visitors, yes, I was exhausted and sore, but I loved that everyone came to see Jack!

For us, it will pretty be DH's parents and maybe his sister if she can make it. My family lives 3 hours away, if they can make it, good but i don't think they will be able to make the trip until after we are home with the baby.

I am sure all my family and DH's family that live in the area will come. Along with my best friends. I will be tired but they are so excited for the baby, I can't say no! I want them to come.

but i definitely see you point about wanting privacy. However i know our families are going to come no matter what.

OP - I guess we are the only ones
I am going to see how I feel, but if I don't want visitors and Dh is ok with it , then when he calls people he can simply say " my wife does not want any visitors ". It is that simple . The baby isn't going anywhere and they can share in my happiness 2-3 days later when I am not in the hospital.
Family ( and we both have small ones ) are the exception to the rule , I would never tell family they could not come)

I didn't invite anyone to come visit when I had DD. Everyone just showed up on their own! I'm talking groups at a time. As embarrassing as it was the first day when I couldn't even sit up on my own yet & probably looked like I just came back from the dead, it was nice to have visitors. I'm sure this time will be similar. Actually, maybe a little less since I live in central Nassau, but I'm delivering at Stony Brook. Nobody wants to drive that far

Same here. We actually paid extra for a suite because we knew between family and friends there would be a million people. We didn't invite anyone and I must have had close to 60 visitors in 2 days.

I'm the total opposite... I want everyone to come and visit, with or without an invite! Plus, my family lives in NY and we are in FL so my mom, dad, sis and maybe other fam members will be flying down.

I don't mind hospital visitors, as long as they come during visiting hours. My hospital is very liberal with visitors and I am just worried that people will come while i am breastfeeding and that will be awkward.
