Who can you make a complaint to about a credit card company? Re: Bank of America
I want to get rid of my credit cards even the ones with no balances. I transferred a small balance to my husbands Bank of America card which had nothing on it at a rate of 0.99% which they offered me. I made the first and only payment so far on time, actually 5 days before the due date. I just looked at my most recent statement and they are now charging me 23.74% I am *@&^@*^ furious to say the lease. No wonder these goddamn companies are asking for bailouts b/c all they due is screw their customers. I called BofA and have spoken to several people and noone can give me an answer and I keep being transferred to another dept. I am ready to lose it!
This is the exact reason I am getting rid of all my credit cards and only want 1 in case of an emergency.

I am so sorry, these cc companies are just too much. I hate them. I had a card go up to 28% I have had this card for 10 years and never made 1 late payment. The balance I had was small too. I recently paid them off and I'm never using it ever again. I wish I knew who you could complain to.

couple of things...you should have something stating the rate you should have (say a copy of your application) or they changed your rate and they notifed you a couple of months in advance.
perhaps it was a code error. not sure why nobody can figure it out.

keep calling and asking for a supervisor.
if you don't get anywhere, I would open an issue with the BBB online.

you might be out of luck on reporting them on this one
they send that offer to you prior to running your credit. they run your credit after you tell them you are going to take the offer. at that point they determine a rate and a $ amount max that that rate is good for. If you exceed that amount (which you would have to have known to ask what you were actually approved for, otherwise this happens) you have to pay the default rate instead since you exceeded the amount the percentage was approved for.
Its sort of a scam to get you in, but you have to read EVERYTHING before doing this. it is somewhere in the fine print if you read the original balance transfer offer.
sorry this happened to you

I read the find print on the offer when they spoke to me and called 2 x's to speak to customer service and neither mentioned the APR being affected by your credit.
But I did call customer service tonight. First they have no records of me calling in either of those times, of course Than 1 person told me it was due to inactivity on the account (which is bull b/c my husband uses that card to download iTunes). Than she told me it was b/c the promotional APR expired by the time I did the balance transfer (which I know is not true). I spoke to someone else in teh APR dept. who said the APR didnt expire until 3/24...I transferred the money on 2/18.
So annoying...that's why these banks are having these problems b/c they are constantly trying to screw people. I have another # to call but they are not open until Monday.

What does the terms and conditions of the card say? You do have a copy of your terms right?
I have 0% on a few cards with Bank Of America and I have 30k balances on all of them.
As long as I make the payments on time they MUST honor the 0% per the terms of my credit card agreement.
If they decide to prematurely jack my rate up thats major lawsuit worthy. I kinda wish they would do it because that would be extremely bad FOR THEM.

Re: Who can you make a complaint to about a credit card company? Re: Bank of America
I friend of mine just had this happen to her with Bank of America. She called some banking dept (state or federal - I will ask her tomorrow at work). They told her that the credit card companies were within their rights to higher the rate but she could write a formal complaint with them anyway. A few weeks later they reinstated her original rate. good luck.

I did the transfer in February and was early with my 1st payment.
They have given me 1,000 reasons...it just seems theya re trying to scam me to pay the 23% as opposed to the 0.99% APR. They are now telling me I did the balance transfer too late meanwhile the exp. date of the promotion was 3/24 and I did it on 2/18
ETA: Now they are telling me the retracted the offer before I used it. they sent me a letter (which I never got by the way ). This just insane. I honestly hate these credit card companies. My husband has been a customer with them for YEARS and this is how they screw him.
