Who else has an over protective DH?

My Dh is driving me insane he won't let me do anything. I am starting to feel like I'm a child again. First I thought it was cute but now I just want to scream. He won't let me clean (afraid the fumes from the products will hurt the baby), won't let me carry in groceries, lift or do laundry. Tells me to hold on the railings when I walk down the stairs its so annoying. I know I shouldn't mind but its getting to me lately.

I can imagine that getting really annoying, really fast!

Maybe next time you guys are at the doctor, you should bring up all his worries to the doctor so that she can put his mind at ease. Maybe then he'll lay off of you a little bit.

Good luck!! Chat Icon

Re: Who else has an over protective DH?

DH was like this with DS ((our first)). He wouldn't let me lift anything heavier than 10 lbs. He didn't like if I would clean because of the fumes, and then we settled that it was ok with those method green products, so maybe try those.

It def. drove me crazy, but it was cute. Now he doesn't say anything since my DS is 25 lbs and I hold him alot lol. Now I wish DH would let me sit and do nothing like last time, so try and enjoy it! lol

I WISH my DH was like that. But I suppose too much (or too little) of a good thing can get irritating after awhile. I would give him a copy of a pregnancy book with the relevant sections marked off. Maybe then he'll relax a little. Or like pps have said, bring him to the doctor with you.

DH started out like that with our first DS, but then he got more relaxed. This time around he barely notices I'm pregnant and almost gives me a look when I aask for help liftig things that really are heavy.

Is he doing the cleaning and laundry for you instead?? If so, I say go for it!! Chat Icon Chat Icon My husband has made comments like "that hamper is probably heavier than you should be lifting" but he does so as he is in his recliner playing call of duty....so I have no choice but to ignore him or it won't get done! Chat Icon kinda the same here...he's good but not as good as he was the first time round. He tells me not to do things but doesn't come running to help Chat Icon

Re: Who else has an over protective DH?

DH was like this during my 1st trimester...once I entered my 2nd he relaxed. Now that I'm in my 3rd and am feeling big and uncomfortable, I am missing his overprotective overly-helpful behavior from the 1st trimester Chat Icon

Re: Who else has an over protective DH?

DH tries not too be too overprotective but he defintiely does not let me lift ANYTHING. Now as for cleaning and laundry he'll tell me to be careful but tries not to get to crazy with it.

Sounds like my DH! For the most part, I really don't mind because he has made things a lot easier on me - like the cleaning, laundry, etc. But sometimes I Chat Icon at things he thinks may affect the baby. I remember once when I was eating ice cream and Chat Icon was going crazy kicking. DH asked me if I could eat ice cream or was it too cold for Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I had to chuckle...enjoy not having to do any of these things now. Because the second time around, DH isn't as concerned and I'm doing all the things that he didn't want me to do the first time.Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Who else has an over protective DH?

This is my 2nd time and I love that my DH is overprotective.

The first time he did certain things (lifting, bath tub etc). Pretty much anything that required me lifting or bending over. I did everything else. I don't think it really hit him I was PG until DS came out...that changed alot.

This time, he is heaven sent. I actually brag about him as much as possible because I don't want it to end =).

He has picked up 75% of the housework and 80% of caring for DS. I pretty much just food shop. I have to say I definitaly feel taken care of and it is great since I have been taking care of the 2 of them for so many years Chat Icon .

He said that the other day- that he can't wait for me to be able to change the liter again- I said I think that will be your job forever now. When he balked I said- well if you want I'll change the cat liter and you can change every single poopie diaper our baby produces.
He chose the cat liter.
