Who has a Kitchen Aid Mixer

And what do you use it for?

I have had one for over 2 years now and it's still in the box in one of my closets. I'm thinking I should just return it. I'm not a big baker (and when I do I just use my little hand mixer)

Should I keep this for the future? I just think it's so big - I can't see myself wanting to lug it out of the closet.

I have it and I love it.
I use it to make mash potatoes, cookies, cakes and brownies. I couldn't do without it at this point.

i am so jealous---i WISH i had it.

i LOVE to bake from scratch---it comes in handy for that.....as well for mixing things in a recipe...mashed potatoes---or for mixing things that are stiff and tough to mix by hand.


my sister has one and i'm beyond jealous cause i wish we could afford one!

I have had one for about 4 years.

Most of the time I use my little hand mixer because the Kitchen Aid is faaaar back in a cabinet and too heavy for me to take out all the time.

Return it, I'm sure you could find better use of of the $$. If you haven't used it in 2 years you probably won't use it going forward.

See - that's the thing - I make mashed potatoes and things like that - but use the hand mixer. I feel like if I haven't needed it yet I should just return it.

But, maybe I will become this huge baker/chef and use it all the time!

I can't imagine using my handmixer. The Kitchen Aid is so much easier. I keep it out on the counter though.

If you've had it for two years and never used it, I would return it. I have one and I love it, but it is a pain to lug in and out of where I keep it, so I only use it for big jobs - like holiday baking. Although, now that DH & I bought our own home, it is about to find a permanant spot on the kitchen counter!

i could never really bake because i hated making such a mess with my hand mixer. now i have by kitchenaid mixer out on the butcher block permanently and use it all the time! (going to use it again this weekend to make lemon bars - yumm!!)

I have one & use it constantly. I don't own a hand mixer bc it is pointless with the Kitchen Aid Mixer. I make everything in there that needs to be mixed from meatloaf, meatball, appetizer dips, cookies, cakes, potatoes.

You name it, you can use the kitchen aid. For me, it is also about convience. I can put the stuff in the mixer & walk away & continue to prep stuff for cooking. The hand mixer demands you to be right there controlling it.

I love it. But I guess it's baking that I love it for, mostly. I use the dough hook for bread dough. Whisk for whipping cream, meringues.

I rarely use mine.

I'm a huge baker and haven't met the recipe that doesn't come out just fine with my hand mixer.

I would probably use the KA more if it lived on the counter, but I don't keep ANY appliance on the counter all the time.

I have it and I love it even though I don't use it that often during the year but during the holidays it is a life saver! I use it to make cakes, cookies, whipped cream, meringues...

I just put it out on my counter permanently because I was constantly taking it in and out of the box.

Besides baking I also use it for meatloaf (no dirty hands), meatballs and whipped potatoes.

I would love to get the attachments.

I use it for everything! I love to bake so it is constantly in use.

I don't have a Kitchen Aid Mixer but plan on getting one soon. I use my hand mixer quite a bit.

But if you have had your Kitchen Aid Mixer for two years, how can you return it?

I have one and LOVE IT! Use it mostly for baking when I make cookies or cakes. I have heard it is a godsend for mashed potatoes though

I have it and love it. It makes mixing cookie dough so, so much easier!

I was told that the key is to have it on your counter. You think of things to make with it when you do.

i have one...its still in the box and never been used! i got it from my bridal shower and just dont have the counter space to keep it out and use it regularly.

I love mine!!!! The best part is that you can put the ingredients in and let it mix...while you do a ton of other things!

I use mine for baking alot, I really enjoy baking and also, its a design classic that compliments my expensive kitchen.

I just returned it! I went to Linens and Things - they pretty much take everything. I had to give them an additional 20% off though since I didn't have a receipt. I wasn't about to lug that thing back home though.

Thanks for all your responses. If I kept in on the counter that would be one thing - but I keep it in an upstairs closet. Next house when I have my huge kitchen I'll go and rebuy it!

i have one... i mostly use it when i'm making cookies a few times a year. we also got the ice cream maker attachment last year, so we use that sometimes too.
we have a big kitchen, so i just keep it out on the counter, so i don't hae to lug it out of the cabinet to use it every time... i find i use it more that way.
