there is no need to call everyday...
if you walk it in to your town, they will stamp it that it was received on "X" date.
If its before the deadline, you are good.

How can you check if your STAR went through? We bought Dec 08 and filed before the deadline this year. Will we not hear until next year?

I'm assuming that if you received a tax bill in March you live in Nassau. If so, the STAR that showed up in your second half tax bill (issued around 3/1 and due 4/1) was the former owners. Your STAR won't kick in until this October.

Just checked the tax statement we received last week and it is not on there. Who do we call?
click here:

then on the left side click on "property info" accept the terms and then click on property tax record. Enter either your address or section/block/lot. The most recent (08/09) tax bill will come up - see if there is an amount under the column next to school that says "exempt." If there's an amount there, you have the STAR for 08/09. If there's nothing there, you do not have the STAR for the 08/09 tax year (which is ending on 11/30/09).
The next tax bill comes out on 12/1/09 (this if for the 2009/10 tax year). To see if you have the STAR in place for 09/10 - first make sure you filed your STAR application on or before March 1, 2009. If you did, call the Assessor's office at (631) 351-3226 and ask them if it's in place. The people at the Huntington Assessor's office are EXTREMELY friendly and helpful.

You will see this 12/1/09 - 1/1/2010
as the approve poster said. You didn't apply for the current tax season.
