Who is going to wait to tell eveyone?
I have been thinking, okay dreaming, about when/if DH and I get PG. We are really excited for it to happen for us and hope it does! But I must say that I am a bit superstitious...so, I am not sure if I am going to tell anyone that we are PG until the 12 week mark (except for you girls of course! )
Is anyone else going to wait to tell friends and family once they get their BFP?? Even though we could m/c anytime... in my mind, the decreased % of it happening after 12 weeks makes me feel a little better. I guess I just wouldn't want to jinx myself! Am I nuts or what?!

Re: Who is going to wait to tell eveyone?
Since I had a m/c earlier this year, I will probably wait longer to tell people unless I'm showing. Last time, we had only told our parents and a few of my close friends that I workout out with everyday (I had to let them know why I was toning it down). It's a personal decision - my overall feeling is that I'd tell people who I would want to be there to support me should God forbid I have a m/c. For the rest of the world, I'd wait a minimum of 12 weeks after the major sonos confirm it looks good.

Re: Who is going to wait to tell eveyone?
when i was pregnant we didnt tell anyone. I told all the gals on here
I m/c on oct 20 and to tell his mom and my mom what was going on was the hardest thing to do. In one phone call they found out we were pregnant and loosing the baby.
When we get preggo again the only people we will tell right away will be his mom and my mom. Once the first trimester is over then we'll tell everyone else.

Re: Who is going to wait to tell eveyone?
We will wait till 6-9 weeks to tell friends and family and even DS. I am also a bit superstitious.
As for DH I will tell him as soon as I get a BFP. I am trying to think of really cool ways to tell him.

Re: Who is going to wait to tell eveyone?
I will only speak for myself. We will wait as long as we can to tell anyone. I am waaaaay too superstitious. However, I do think that some people have this incredible sense to figure it out without being told.
I kind of feel that once the cat is out of the proverbial bag, that the intimacy and privacy is out the window and then the questions will begin:
"Are you going to find out what it is?"
"What are you going to name it?"
"Will you breastfeed?"
"How are you going to afford it?"
Having been through so much to conceive and after having experienced loss already through miscarriage, I would like to be able to enjoy the early stages of pregnancy with DH - just the two of us without influence and opinion of anyone else.
ETA: There are too many lurkers here and there is no way I would announce here before I would tell my family (or DH's). They would be terribly hurt if strangers on the web found out before they did and I would not blame them considering how supportive they were of me through my process. G-d forbid, someone who knew my family blabbed it out. I could never forgive myself.

Re: Who is going to wait to tell eveyone?
well as you can see I have a "secret" name... we don't want to tell anyone we are TTC.
if we do get pregnant, we might wait until 8 weeks to tell immediate family and close friends, then everyone else at 12 weeks. I hope we can keep it a secret that long!

Re: Who is going to wait to tell eveyone?
I agree girls! It is not easy going thru the whole TTC process... and many people just don't get it! DH is so excited for me to get PG, so who knows how long he'll be able to keep it in! But I am going to try to only tell you girls and my BFF who knows we are trying! I hope we can be strong!

We will tell my mom and possibly dh's parents right away. Other than that I am going to try and hold out telling others until 12 weeks.

Re: Who is going to wait to tell eveyone?
I am currently 11 weeks pregnant and am waiting til Christmas to tell my family and friends. Coincidentally I will be 13 weeks then and hopefully all is well.
My last pregnancy resulted in a miscarriage and one of the lingering effects of that loss is that it took away the joy of enjoying being pregnant, for me anyway.
ANYWAY I was busting at the seams last time around and told our families around 6 weeks. One of the worst things in the world for us was to make that phone call that we lost the baby. I can't do that to myself or our famiilies again so I am waiting.
Sorry to be such a bummer! What a depressing post!!! (I am emotional today)

Re: Who is going to wait to tell eveyone?
hmm this is such a hard question. We told everyone under the sun we were pg and then m/c'd. It happened that my grandpa passed and we saw sooo many family members from OOT and stuff. They all probably still think I am PG because we only talk to them a few times a year.
If and when I get PG I don't know what to do. If I announce it on here I have so many people that I know in "real" life that would then know. I really really don't know what to do. We will def. tell at least my mom and dad. They are a source of great support for DH and I. Dh's parents are divorced so telling them is like telling two different sources of potential secret leakage. AND they are from OOT so... I don't see the need to tell them. But I could see DH wanting to to tell them. We will def. tell then after we see or hear the heartbeat. Then I will take it from there as to who I will tell and when. I am NOT a private person and keeping things about me secret is REALLY hard. I just dont see the point in secrets. I come from a childhood where secrets nearly destroyed my family and perm. hurt many of us. So I hate secrets. I just know that certain people's feelings will be hurt. LIKE my mom is a twin. I am REALLY close to my aunt.. DH is a twin also.. How do we not tell his twin sister????
I guess we will just play it by ear. Like firsttimer said I think a lot of the innocent joy of being PG is taken away after you miscarry.

I think we will tell our parents and siblings. I will also tell my 2 best friends. But, other than that I think that's it. I know that if, god forbid, we had a m/c we would want our family to support us.

Re: Who is going to wait to tell eveyone?
I think we will tell our parents & I'll probably tell my close friends. I figure, if I were to miscarry, god forbid, those are the people I would want to have for support & comfort. Everyone else will wait until 12 weeks.

Re: Who is going to wait to tell eveyone?
Well, I live OOT and I would really love to tell my parents in person - so whenever it happens, I'd like to tell them next time I see them - it could be 2 weeks or it could be 12! LOL
I'd like to be able to tell my parents as soon as possible because if something did go wrong, I know I would need their support.
On the other hand, I would definitely wait to tell DH's family. When his brother and SIL were expecting, they told everyone around 11 weeks or so. I congratulated his mother and she said 'Well, we'll see' I suppose she was just being cautious, but you'd think she could muster a little bit of enthusiasm! I wouldn't want to tell her any earlier than we absolutely had to.

We probably will tell close family and friends right away. The rest will find out at about 10 weeks or so.

Re: Who is going to wait to tell eveyone?
When we are blessed, DH and I will probably tell no one for a few weeks. I wouldn't post it on here, either, because there are too many lurkers and I want to be able to share the good news with family and friends.

Re: Who is going to wait to tell eveyone?
We waited 9 weeks with our baby, but when everything went on, my mom asked me in private that when we get pregnant again, can I please tell her right away. She said she promised not to tell anyone, she just wanted to know so that she could support us sooner. She only knew me being pregnant for 11 weeks.
I haven't decided whether to tell her earlier the next time around, bc we still want it to be a surprise.

Re: Who is going to wait to tell eveyone?
We will wait. Because of our history(3 m/c and 1 ectopic)Problem is the list is getting shorter as to who we will wait to tell. My close friend, sister, Mom, SIL M &FIL all know what is going on so I kind of have to tell them....
I wish I could wait until I was 30 weeks but that will not work!

Michael and I have discussed this also. I feel that we would wait until 3 to 4 months to let everyone know. Just to make sure that everything is going good.
Gabi, we thank you so very much for the secret santa gift. It is perfect. We are going to plan a special night to go there for dinner.
Little does Michael know I will wear my wedding rehearsal dinner dress again. The dress that I got from White House Black Market. It will be our special date night.
Thank you so very much again.
