Who is on your "I'm going into labor" call/text list and baby is born list?

I want to put a list together for DH so we include everyone we want to tell about the progress of having the baby.

Who are you texting/calling/telling immediately that you're on the way to the hospital? Even if it's 3am?

Who are you keeping posted during the labor process?

Who is on your "Baby's born!" list?

Who is just being told via FB?

For #1 we didn't tell anyone, since our OB thought he would be sending us home.

after he was born, it was late, so we called my mom and MIL and the next morning, DH called one of his friends and one of mine and they spread the word.


For #2 I had a tough anesthesia experience, so I don't really remember what happened - DH took care of it.

Call/text right away: Mom, Dad, sister, MIL, BIL and his wife, other BIL and his wife...one of my best friends

Will keep all of those people posted during the progress and I'm sure my husband will tell a few of his close friends. And I'm sure my mom will keep aunts/uncles, cousins, grandparents posted.

Once the baby is born, I will text/call more friends, as will DH. My mom will probably inform the family, same with MIL.

Then I'll probably post it on FB..maybe not

We left for hospital at 1am after my water broke -- I sent a text to my brother around 3am because I knew he was getting ready for work. I told him NOT to tell our parents yet since they couldn't do anything and I knew they wouldn't be able to sleep.

Of course he interpreted that as running into their bedroom like a kid and saying "HER WATER BROKE!" (Mind you he is a 34 year old man.) My parents showed up at hospital around 5am.

I posted on FB around 2am or so that my water broke and I was pretty much "live updating" all day long in the hopsital from my phone because I was bored.

Your phone will be BLOWING UP no matter what, so you can always tell your DH to call/text some people and then let them know they can spread the word, vs having to maintain a list of who to tell. Word travels VERY fast.

Call/text right away will be parents and siblings.

My friends with children made a "phone chain" where one person would call/text the next. I assume I will do the same.
