Re: Who makes up these phoney "National such and such"days?
I was happy to post a pic of my boys last night, especially since DS1 only just recently became a big brother. Doesn't annoy me in the least, and I'm a happy only child.
It's like having a theme for FB, just like TBT. Presents an opportunity for people to post pics they might not normally think to post.
I don't complain about stuff on FB. If I don't like it, I ignore it.

Guess I'm the only one who didn't find this annoying at all. I actually enjoyed seeing the sibling pictures.
Much better than seeing people rant, complain, post stupid pictures and horrific links to news stories that seem to be taking over my feed. OH, and MUCH better than those buzzfeed quizes like "How white are you" and "Which Game of Throne Character are you like the most?"
As long as I don't have to start buying cards and sending gifts to my siblings every year, it didn't bother me.

Agreed. I like posting old pics, and my sister and I each posted one from our respective weddings. It was nice. I love seeing photos all the time though.

lol I agree.
I am guilty of posting a "sibling" picture but I I thought it was kind of fun.
National sibling day does actually exist, it's just not federally recognized.

Re: Who makes up these phoney "National such and such"days?
Didn't say it was a big deal I just wondered who sat around making this stuff up and how it is determined that this date is this national such and such thing. Because it seems every day is National something else day. I mean they have a National Grilled Cheese Day for crying out loud. So who makes this up?

Re: Who makes up these phoney "National such and such"days?
I got this from my aunt. Might help explain how the day was established....
Hi Family. since all of you have siblings, I'm forwarding this letter sent by National siblings Day founder. want to share it with you. I joined her on capital hill last month lobbying senators about this. She established this day in memory of her two siblings who both died much too young. She wants everyone to either appreciate what you have while you have them or at least honor them once a year -- like we do with mothers and fathers. ~~~~~~
This is reminder that Siblings Day (SD) is April 10th. I would personally like to wish you a great day! We are still waiting to hear from the White House whether President Obama will officially establish the day by issuing a Presidential Proclamation. The Siblings Day Foundation (SDF) is the leading advocate for establishment of a day for the celebration and recognition of all brothers and sisters. It will commemorate the unique relationship between siblings that has been supported by the last two presidents, numerous governors, mayors, senators and celebrities throughout the country.
To date we have received an overwhelming response from 48 out of 50 governors who have issued gubernatorial proclamations since 1998. Each gubernatorial proclamation is very important in showing the power that such a proclamation can have in reminding us to appreciate, enjoy and celebrate our brotherhood and sisterhood.
For those who have a sibling you can celebrate by sending your siblings a card, gift, or phone call; making a dinner invitation; performing a good deed, favor, errand or chore; and in cases of siblings who are no longer with us consciously holding them in our memory and in other cases, can be a day of truce and more understanding.
In addition, the SDF has received an overwhelming response from the public this past year. 2013 SD was posted on Wikipedia for the first time; SD went viral and trended on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Instagram. In 2013 Facebook declared April 10 as National Siblings Day; the SD website received close to 1.5 million visitors; Instagram received close to 1 million tags; and more than 340,000 individuals submitted YouTube videos all in celebration of this day.
I invite you to visit our website www.siblingsday.org - there you can send an e-card to your sibling with a personalized note and view your governor’s proclamation (many governors have also posted SD proclamations on their website).
We now have a photo gallery on our website as well as on Facebook. Do you have a favorite sibling photo to submit to our gallery? All will be reviewed to be included on the site. Send your submission to: [email protected] Follow us on Twitter: @SiblingsDay and like us on Facebook: www.facebook.com/siblingsday
Happy Siblings Day!

I totally agree. I think it's one of the nicer "stupid" trends. I thought it was sweet to see my friends with their brothers and sisters.
Ditto. I'm with you guys.
You can't win on FB.
Nobody wants to see your pics. Or hear you're happy. Or hear you're miserable. Or read news headlines. Or watch your You Tube video. Or take your quiz. Or celebrate a holiday. Or hear about your good fortune. Or hear about your misery. Or read your jokes. Or see your bit strip. Or listen to you rant. Or hear your advice.
What's left to post???
Basically nobody wants to see anything in their newsfeed.
I think some people should just not be on FB...........they get too annoyed by everything.
FTR, I didn't post anything yesterday and had NO clue there was even a National Siblings Day but that being said, I enjoyed seeing everyone's pics. They were so cute, especially the throwback ones from when they were kids.

I hate those posts. Honestly, a lot of people don't have good relationships with family and I hate when people are all over brag book blasting this $hit.
THIS!!! I love seeing the "Aren't we a great family/luv yas" when NOT on FB, you hear the REAL dirt! . I was actually leaning more towards it makes others feel bad.
But like another poster said, maybe those people don't belong on FB then.
I have met people who compare their lot in life to what others appear to have through this site.

I have an app on my phone that tells me all of the random holidays...there are a lot of them. Today is International Plant Appreciation Day National Peach Cobbler Day Scrabble Day
I like it...every day is a holiday. Every day is something to celebrate. I think it's a nice way to look at things.
And I use the holidays to write on the board in my classroom every day to capture my students' attention. They love them...and it forces them to look at the board to see what we're doing every day.
