My Mom and Grandman were on line at 6am at Toys R Us to get mine...

Her name was Melanie and she had blonde hair like me!

I just threw her away last month when my Mom moved and I had to clean out all of my old cr@p...

my mom did!

she waited in line at Toys R Us and managed to get 3 of them, 1 for each of her daughters.

BUT - she did NOT camp out at the store for days lol. she waited on line for an hour or 2.

My grandmother in FL had to get one for me, b/c my parents couldn't! I remember visiting her and seeing the box at the top of the coat closet. I asked her, "Grandma, what's that?" She said, "nothing, just an empty box." She lied! It was the CPK that I was getting for Chanukah!

All I asked for Christmas was a CPK and my parents didn't get me one because my grandma said she would. Well, she got me a knock-off CPK. This doll was hideous. I was so disappointed and I couldn't hide it. My parents have a picture of my face after I opened it.

I did get a real CPK, Hannah, and a preemie, Linnea, for my birthday a few months later.

My unborn daughter has a CPK Newborn already that I received at my baby shower. Her name is Aaliyah.

I remember my parents ordered them for about $75 each wich was alot back then. My sis and I went snooping in the closet and we saw them and started jumping up and down. their names were stuart reggy and Patrick Merrill. I also had Christina Cammilla, she was a preemie! Oh to be a kid again!!

My poor mother - stood outside of Toys r Us in the snow for almost 2 hours after a night shift at the hospital, only to get to the front of the line and be told they were out.

My Aunt in Canada ended up mailing one here.

It was so funny. I saw it under the Christmas tree that first year when they were HUGE. You remember the shape of the box? It was so recognizable. Anyway, I was so excited. It said it was from my grandfather. So, I just pictured my grandfather waiting on long lines in stores for it. Meanwhile, my poor mom was out there getting it for me and never got any credit. I got about 5 or 6 of them after that first one...but there's nothing like the first His name was Clint Teddy and he was bald, and one dimple...awww...

MY parents did and got me one for my birthday. I was so excited. Melissa Sue. She had red hair and ponytails. I loved playing with her. I still have her too.

This thread is making me all misty eyed. I LOVED my CPKs!!!!

My first one was Genevieve Flori, she came with that name. She still smells like vanilla after all these years!

Then I got a premie with a pacifier I named Nick Roger (after Duran Duran )

Grace Catherine I named after my grandmother.

Then Laura (after my stepmom) Danielle (I liked that name) was my cat koosa.

My sister & I were actually the first of all our friends to have one (each). We were visiting my nanny in Brooklyn and stopped in one of our favorite little "5 and dime" shops and there were -in the words of my nanny- these "ugly" dolls perched up on the top shelf. Since we wanted one and since she liked to spoil us, we got them. Somehow this was before the craze even started - I want to say it was in the fall b/c I remember that Christmas was when the insanity started.

We still have them too...mine had short yellow hair and came with some funky a ss name that I promptly changed to Denise My sister has one with longish beige hair - I forget the name. Later on she got one of the premie's for a birthday.

My mother and my aunt waited on line at Toys R US in the rain b/c they had to get two - one for me and one for my sister
