Re: Why?? Black Friday shopping vent!
I never judge other moms but I have to admit I felt kinda sad seeing all the little babies who looked completely exhausted being lugged out in the cold and rain in the middle of the night.
I don't think I could have woke up DD in the middle of her sleep to take her out.
But some moms don't have anyone to watch their kids who wanted to go out, so to each her own...

People need to stop worrying about others so much.
Since when is it a bad thing to feel sorry for the kids whose parents dragged them out in the middle of the night to save a few bucks?
I think common sense is sorely lacking sometimes. Has nothing to do with worrying about what the parents are doing. I know I would feel awful seeing those kids out at 3am having a meltdown knowing that they would probably be so much safer and happier in their own beds.
I feel bad for them also but it's none of my business why there parents took them out on black friday. There must be a reason and not just for sh*ts and giggles. I dont know their business or there financial sitaution. MAYBE there is a specific toy there child wants and the only way they can afford to buy it is during the black friday sale. Who knows. There can be many reasons why..kwim? Absolutely the kids and parents would more happier at home in bed but again not my business or anyone else as to why they are not.

I forgot that it was raining... Dh told me when he got home. I know, I know..."a little rain isnt going to kill them'. Its a good deal, right?

Re: Why?? Black Friday shopping vent!
I saw a ton of kids at the outlets just after midnight (maybe 1:30-2AM) and while I know some people are defending their stance and saying they needed to penny pinch and didn't have childcare, the one thing I didn't understand was the HUGE FAMILIES who came out with a ton of kids just for the event. If you have an extended family of five or six adults, WHY can't one or two people stay home with the children and let them sleep? THIS didn't make sense to me. Single moms doing this seemed okay, not a great idea, but WHY oh WHY if there are a bunch of adults, do you need to drag all of the kids out too?

I'm in the minority here, but that's ok. because i know that i can take my children- all 3 of them into any store at any time of the day and don't have to worry about the hysterics, because they do sit in strollers and are well-behaved.
Just curious...did you do something to make them like this? Or do you think its their personality? Age? Just curious because my 16 month old DD is a nightmare shopping, she hates the stroller.
The only thing that i know that i did was always bring them out with me, put them in the stroller and take them pretty much everywhere with me. They've gotten used to the stroller from day 1. I belive with all 3 of them i was out in the stores to get something with them in the stroller by the time they were each 2 weeks old respectivly. I don't always have the luxury of waiting around for my DH to come home to go out and get some things and i don't like to rely on people to watch my kids, so i take them everywhere. Make sure to take snacks, drinks, and a few toys to keep them entertained, but they've all been good. With 3 kids i think i've had 1 child have a melt down in the store, of which stopped within 3 minutes of me ignoring it. She calmed down and was good after that.
Also we always try to do atleast 1 walk in the stroller every day weather permitting. They love starring at the scenery.
As for the whole black friday and not bringing your children. A child can get trampled anywhere, in a mall on a regular day, at an amusement park, etc. Which is why i have no problem with my older DD being in a stroller at 5 years old. while yes, i did the comments about isn't she a little old. my DD was out of the stroller by 2. It's not a competition, and personally i feel my child is safer in the stroller in the store or walking on the street, than walking next to me.

Re: Why?? Black Friday shopping vent!
I can understand taking very young kids who can sleep in strollers but taking older kids out seems cruel.
I've been out to black friday once and didn't think it was worth it. The lines are insane and not worth the savings. JMO. We're doing most of our shopping online this year.

Re: Why?? Black Friday shopping vent!
The only thing I hate is the parking lot at night safety issue. Lately, I have been a lot more aware of when it gets dark and not wanting to put two kids in their car seats in what could be a possible situation.

If someone wants/needs to bring their child black friday shopping then that is their business. Not mine. I won't judge them, I won't come on this board to vent about them (because there obviously are people on here who do take their kids) nor will I ever say NEVER because ya just never know if one year you will need to bring them out.
People need to stop worrying about others so much.
