Why do babies only breathe through their nose?
Not sure why this is true... any ideas?
Also, if this *is* true, when do they learn how to breathe through their mouth?

I have never heard this, but I would think instincts would kick in if their nose is stuffed and they would breathe through their mouth.....

So they can eat and breathe at the same time, because babies are built to be breastfed their noses are slightly upturned so our boobs don't smother them!

i read that they can breathe through their mouths - they just prefer to breathe through their noses for the first couple of weeks of age

Funny I was thinking the same thing- I just read that for the first 2 months (I think that was the age) they can't breath through their mouths, only their nose. I found it so interesting because I never read that before.

Re: Why do babies only breathe through their nose?
I think the majority of us mainly breathe through our nose and only use the mouth as a back up
