What makes people think they can laugh at someone's choices?
Both of those names are lovely.
Unfortunately, a lot of people do -
my honest response to anyone who makes a face or laughs or tells me they don't like the name or whatever is "I don't care what you think" .....b/c I don't.

i love Amelia. It is adorable. Both the names are fine choices.
When I would tell people my baby names they would always make other suggestions. I was always thinking " I already made my choices why are you making other suggestions" it would annoy me so eventually, sarcastically I would just agree with them and then say "ok, thats what I am going to name my kid' after a while - people got the hint and stopped

Do they have kids? What are their kids names?
If there is a big generational difference that could explain why but I still think it's incredibly rude to LAUGH at someone's name choice. Don't like it, fine, but to laugh? Rude.
I don't tell names either and this is part of the reason why.

I think they are beautiful names!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! People can be so rude sometimes - I remember a post a while back when someone was really rude about a name someone liked - honestly people need to just be more polite.
Both names are just so lovely.

My step mothe ris Eva pronounced Ava. Ava at first was wierd to me b/c I'm so seeing it spelled Eva.
