Why Is It So Hard To Adopt A Puppy?

I really want to get a puppy, esp. a beagle or some short haired medium dog.

But I have filled out some applications on petfinder.com and haven't gotten any call backs? Could it be because I live in a condo?

Why should someone be discriminated against just 'cus he/she doesn't have a home with a backyard? :P

I think it sux since hubby and I would make great dog owners. We are financially stable and already have two cats and have alot of time on our hands for a dog. :P

I think it's actually good they are so strict with animal adoptions. I bet it's because you don't have a backyard. Or because they don't know for sure that your condo allows dogs. Chat Icon

I think there so strict b/c alot of people ruin it for others.. They adopt a puppy and then once its out of puppy stage they try and bring it back.. Horrible.

I had the same problem a few weeks ago. At least they can respond to your applications by some kind of update.

I know - it is so annoying. At least a year ago I filled out an application for a bunch of resuce groups and never heard back???!!!

Meanwhile - I have a fenced in backyard!

I think that petfinder is not always up to date. You respond to a posting and the dog may be adopted already.
