Why is it that as soon as I decide to TTC my body goes beserk?

My periods have always been regular on and off the pill. When I officially went off the pill in October with the intention of TTC early in 2008, my periods remained regular. 28 days.

Last month was the first official TTC month for me and DH. My period was due on March 17, but didn't come until the 19th and now she's gone!

How do I calculate ovulation and "know" my body if this is happening?

WHY is this happening?

Any ideas?

Have you taken a pregnancy test? Maybe it was implantation bleeding-- which can happen during the second week of the TWW and around when your period is due.

Well I can share with you my experience...since stopping the pill 6 months ago, the length of AF has gotten a lot shorter each month 3-4 days followed by very light spotting for a couple more days.
I wouldn't be too concerned since your cycles are still in the normal range and you were only 2 days later than normal. I've had months when I'm a few weeks later than normal! Stress can also delay ovulation...

You might want to try tracking ovulation with an OPK or charting your temps. If that is too much hassle for you, try just charting CM and AF.
