Re: why oh why is my diaper wipes machine...
I've read a lot of reviews about diaper wipes warmers before we had DS. The best warmers dried out most of the wipes, and the worst ones singed the wipes or caught fire. Both our DC had cold wipes, and they never seemed to be too traumatized, so we never bothered with the warmer.

you could add a touch of water to the machine or even turn it off for a bit when you don't think you'll need a wipe.

There should be a wipes pillow that came with the warmer. You have to add water to it and you put in at the bottom. Every so often you have to add water to it again to keep it moist. I gave up on the wipes warmer after a month. My DD never knew the difference.

This definately helps. DD is almost 9 months old and I still use it for her. My wipes used to dry out and brown before I started using this little "pillow". I think it is called a wipes warmer freshener. I do wet it again every time I fill up the wipes, and I change it every so often when it really starts loooking brown.

sometimes the bottom wipes dry out- but honestly - we go through wipes like crazy- we sort of use them for everything- diaper changes- cleaning spit up on clothing- cleaning DD's face, etc etc..

As long as the white pad at the bottom is wet, they shouldn't dry out. When you wet it, run it under the faucet for a while, because it absorbs a lot.
