YES! The website i saw it on was saying how kitty haircuts are all the rage, and this was an example of one. And then it said something like "a well groomed cat is a happy cat."
That cat doesn't look too happy to me!

It's called a "Lion Cut" and I think it looks silly, in fact the poor thing looks down right depressed. All his chums are gonna laugh their arses off when he goes out to play

My friend has a himalayan. Her mom has 3 of them and her sister also has one.
In the summer they do get shaved cause they have so much hair and it's so hot.
Plus there hair is so long that it gets notted a lot.
I love cats but im not really sure I see this is mean?

I actually think it's adorable - and funny!!
My cousin has done this to her cat - especially in the summer b/c he gets really matted - I guess the kitty doesn't enjoy being brushed. They think before they adopted him he was abused, so he's a bit skittish.

I do this to my persian- he loves it
I don't shave him so bald though
plus his fur gets really long and matted- and he doesn't like to have us try to get the knots out- and he looks so cute this way I think

thanks- I actually read the background on the pic you posted a month or so ago when I was looking up lion cut info on line- it seems that the owner was southern and moved to Chicago- she took the cat for a "line" cut- but with her accent it sound like she said "lion" cut- poor guy
the kitten thinks his tail is a toy- he walks with it up and swinging back and forth- he is very proud of it
I can't believe how small she looks next to him- she is so much bigger now

I must admit... I am a HUGE fan of this cut! I don't have a cat my sister does (long haired) I try daily to convince her to do make him a Lion. I also tell everyone I know who has a cat to do this to them lol. It keeps them cool in the summer, it's not mean it doesnt hurt them...just might piss them off....alot

shaving a cat for summer, so it can be more comfortable is being mean? you've GOT to be kidding me. 
i love the lion cute, i want to give it to my cat cuz the poor thing is so hot right now, i justr need to buy the right clippers.
{if everyone is making fun of a cat who gets shaved for the summer heat i can only IMAGINE what you guys think of my dog Dharma who naturally has this look.}

as soon as I found out we were adopting a persian I said I can't wait to get him cut like a lion!
I think it so cute! my cat loves it- he has been cut like this since we got him
I spend more money on his hair cut then on mine!

It wasn't a personal attack on anyone, to each her own!
And there is a differnce between naturally looking one way and a human doing something so a cat looks a certain way.
Anyhow, I didn't post this picture to start drama, I was just taken aback by it and wanted to share it with others.
