If I had a cat, I personally wouldn't shave him/her BUT to each his/her own.
One thing I AM against is dying an animal's hair in any way. Something about that bugs me for some reason...

It wasn't a personal attack on anyone, to each her own!
And there is a differnce between naturally looking one way and a human doing something so a cat looks a certain way.
Anyhow, I didn't post this picture to start drama, I was just taken aback by it and wanted to share it with others.
i didn't mean you personally, i just saw like 5 or more comments how its so mean

i used to/once in a blue moon dye my dogs fur. its just cute.

My friend has a himalayan. Her mom has 3 of them and her sister also has one.
In the summer they do get shaved cause they have so much hair and it's so hot.
Plus there hair is so long that it gets notted a lot.
I love cats but im not really sure I see this is mean?
Thanks, I thought I was the only one!!
My sister used to get her persian shaved in the summertime. The cat was always much happier once she had all that hair off. It's fine, as long as it's not an outdoor cat!

I have 2 himmies and they both get shaved into a lion cut every summer. To those who think it's *mean*, I think you are giving the critters too much in the *emotion* department. Animals will always *choose* what is most comfortable- they don't care about how they look. And anyone who makes *fun* of any animal is an idiot.
Before "the cut", my furkids will hide out in the basement during the hottest summer days. Once they've been groomed, they are much more physically comfortable and will lay around in their usual realaxation spots.
To each his own- but I can bet that all who said it is mean don't own a persian cat.....
