Wierd question for Catholic Bellmore mommies
What parish do you belong to? We just moved here October 1st, and I would like to get back into church now that the moving dust has settled down. I have heard about St. Barnabas and Cure Of Ars. Which one do you belong to and do you like it? Is there a fee to join? TIA!

You have to check with the diocese and register with the church that is for your area where you live. I forgot the website but you can google it and search for local parishes.

DH and I got married at St. Barnabas because that was DH's parish. They were wonderful and the church was beautiful.

We do not live in Bellmore but we are parishoners at St Barnabas. DS was baptised there although we are thinking of switching to Cure of Ars

Re: Wierd question for Catholic Bellmore mommies
Not a weird question! Both parishes are lovely, and both have their own vibe and feel. There is absolutely no fee to join either. Fr. Charles at Cure is especially warm and charismatic, and a lot of people really love him. I would recommend attending mass at both places, and perhaps meeting at the rectory with whomever is in charge of welcoming new parishioners. That would also give you a good feel for what programs are offered, etc.
My older DD goes to St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, which is the regional school comprised of those two parishes you mentioned and two others; it is located at St. Barnabas. It is an amazing school, with a wonderful and supportive community.
(That said, we actually go to Sacred Heart in Merrick, because we lived in that area many years ago. We LOVE that parish, but have become very familiar with the other two you mentioned through our daughter's school.)
Good luck to you!, and welcome to Bellmore! Definitely come to the Street Fair next weekend!

Thanks ladies!! I will look into both. It's good to know that St. Elizabeth Ann Seton is the catholic school for both parishes. I think my kids will be going to Catholic school, so this works out great.

Re: Wierd question for Catholic Bellmore mommies
I grew up in Merrick and didn't go to St Barnabas as a kid, but when we started taking DS to mass we chose this church b/c they were the only ones I could find with a true childrens mass. It was Great!!!!
