Window in Shower

Hi all. I have a window in my shower and the wood surrounding the window is/was painted. Due to water, steam, heat, etc, the paint is peeling and the wood is exposed. Is there some kind of molding you can put around the window to cover the wood so that it doesnt ruin it? I found this on home depot's website but not sure if it would work. I believe its the part for inside the window sill:

Swanstone Window Trim Kit

Any other ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Re: Window in Shower

We have a window in the shower as well. Chat Icon I'm not a fan, but it is what it is. We have a plastic curtain that covers the entire window and the molding. We also have it surrounded by tile, instead of wood.

Good Luck.

Re: Window in Shower

We have a window in the shower of two of our bathrooms. One is covered with the same tile as the shower. The other has marble surrounding it. Never had any problems.

Personally, I don't think you should ever have wood molding in a shower. We used to have it (in the shower with the tile surrounding the window) and we got carpenter ants - lots of them!

Re: Window in Shower

I used the Foam style trim ( it is a foam base with an acrylilc face) around the window and on the sil I adheared shower surround material.

I filled in all of the joints with clear silicone. and it is all water tight.

I dont have a close-up of the window on the web but I think you get the idea.

Zoom in and you can see it better.
