Wine drinkers please come in.....
We decided to host Christmas dinner. I would like to get some bottles of wine, both red and white for those who drink it. I like wine, but don't really KNOW wine, KWIM?
Can you recommend a decent bottle of wine, red and white, that isn't too expensive (like under $20.00 a bottle)?
TIA.

Re: Wine drinkers please come in.....
estancia makes a nice merlot and chardonnay. Both under $20 and available everywhere.
I also like Charles Schug Pinot Noir, Sterling Cab and Rock Rabbit Syrah.
All reasonable.
Another nice white is Ferrari Fume Blanc. Full bodied white wine.

Re: Wine drinkers please come in.....
Hands down, for red, Greg Norman's wines are unbelievable -- not only are they priced so well but they were rated one of the best in the world! They are only like 18-20 bucks a bottle! He has a Cabernet-Merlot mix that my DH just LOVES and he has a few other varities of red - they are all fantastic.
Yellowtail is good in general - lots of people like it.
Giovello is a GREAT Pinot Grigio that is a real crowd pleaser - priced right too. Also, the bottle is quite large -- it is midnight blue in color and has a dragon fly on the front - about 20 bucks also for the large.
My all-time fave is Sauvignon Blanc -- a great white that even most men like. Definitely get the varities from New Zealand - those are the best. Any bottle you see that is in the range of 15-20 bucks, from NZ and says Sauvignon Blanc on it should be perfect. Serve the whites COLD -- the reds room temp and you are good to go!
Hope that helps!

Re: Wine drinkers please come in.....
My favorite red is Luna Di Luna from Italy -- they make a Merlot-Cabernet blend thats fabulous. Even if you're not a red fan, you'll love it. They're not pricey either -- I think they're like $15.

Re: Wine drinkers please come in.....
When we buy for a party we usually get the magnums of Cavit Pinot Grigio. I've seen them range from 10.00 to 14.00 each.
