Re: Winter 08/Spring 09 Mommies-Updates
Shane is 5 1/2 months and cracks me up. He's funny...like I can already tell he's going to be a comedian, and I think he knows he's funny too.
He rolls over from back to belly, but not belly to back. When he gets on his belly, he lifts his butt high up in the air like he wants to crawl but he ends up shimmying backwards. He sits up like a tripod, if I let him go he'll stay up, but slowly start to tip forward.
He babbles constantly and his newest thing is blowing bubbles. He's a drool MONSTER...like buckets of drool, his hands are ALWAYS in his mouth along with anything else he can grab. He grabs everything within reach. I'm assuming he's teething though I haven't seen any teeth or white spots on his gums yet. So, we'll see.
Not on solids yet, doc says 6 months. I'm still BFing on demand. He eats all day and even though still spits up alot, he's a horse...at 4 1/2 months he was 20 lbs so god only knows what he'll be at his 6 mo appt.
Sleeping is still our big issue, he doesn't sleep through the night though he usually only gets up twice but he just doesn't nap. He does not know how to put himself to sleep (which is my fault I know) so he still has to be rocked to nap...and he only catnaps...maybe an hour tops and that's rare, usually it's about 30/40 minutes.
This is my favorite recent picture of him, always with a finger in his mouth. I him more than life itself!

Re: Winter 08/Spring 09 Mommies-Updates
Maddy is turned 8 months last week. She started food late due to her allergies, but has decided she really doesn't like pureed foods and only wants table food. She is on Neocate still, and we won't be trying any dairy or soy until 12 months. Still no teeth, though my other dd got her first at 13 months and the doctor says teething is familial, so she may be late as well. She crawled very early (5.5 months) and has been cruising for a few months. She started standing unassisted in the last few weeks and I think that walking is very close! She says mama and dada pretty consistently. Sleep is still a touchy subject, as she sleeps from 8pm-5am, then a 6 oz bottle, then down again until 8am. We started sleep training this week, because while she is a great sleeper, I wanted her to be able to go down on her own for the night and naps. She's really doing wonderfully and I can't imagine our lives without her in it!

Chloe turned 7 months old on Saturday! She is adorable. She is screaming her head off as I posted earlier, she is also babbling and saying da-da-da and ma-ma-ma and ba-ba-ba. She officially started to crawl yesterday! She had been rocking back and forth on her hands and knees for a while and getting around on her belly, but she actually crawled yesterday! She has had 2 teeth for a while.
She gets 4 bottles a day and 3 solids. I haven't introduced meats yet, but she loves her puffs and mum-mums.
I have been a SAHM all summer and it is definitely hard, but so worth it.
So happy to reunite with you all! Soon we'll be celebrating 1st b-days!

when your babies are waking to eat, are they taking a lot of do they fall asleep while eating? i was considering starting a formula bottle at night to see if maybe it would satisfy her more. but i think it is comfort nursing she wakes up crying then is out as soon as i put her on the breast
With my DD its always different.... : Last night, we put her down at 8:30, she woke at 10:30 ( just needed to be rocked) and then only woke once at about 2am and drank a whole bottle...
Other nights she'll wake 2-3x and usually will not finish a bottle every time, but occasionally will... Sometimes she will only take an ounce or so ! Theres usually one full bottle in there somewhere though.... She's not a binky kid, otherwise I think the sucking motion would be enough to get her out sometimes...
ETA- If you've gone this far without adding a nightime bottle, I'd probably try to avoid it and maybe cluster feed before bed...Once it starts, it may be harder to stop kwim ?
I think that too, that it will probably not be a great idea to start the bottle of formula. i just really wish she liked a binky...my son wouldn't give his up for anything and she wants nothing to do with it! She latches on for maybe a moment and then once she is back into that deep sleep she tosses herself of me.

Re: Winter 08/Spring 09 Mommies-Updates
Ryleigh is 7 1/2 months old.
She is HYSTERICAL. She almost always has a smile on her face.
No teeth yet...we keep feeling for bumps, but nothing. Her gums are looking a little swollen.
We have begun to childproof the house, because she is "scooting"--she can move backwards but is experimenting with getting up on her hands and knees at the same time.
I'm returning to work in 3 weeks, so I have begun weaning her for daytime feedings. It's going really well--she takes a formula bottle at 9, 12, and 3. I'm happy to say that *I* have adjusted really well, without much pain or soreness. I'm keeping the last feeding of the night and the first of the morning, just because I want to She is getting oatmeal w/ fruit in the morning, and rice w/ veggies in the evening. I have given her puffs and more "solid" types of foods, but only if I hold them for her. It frustrates her, I think, but I am so terrified of her choking.
The thing that is most amazing about Ryleigh is her love of music. Anytime she is fussy in the car, I put on the classical music station and she gets very still and quiet. She actually RECOGNIZES songs, because we have a few that we sing to her, and she will start to whine when the song is a few words from the end.
She is "talking" up a storm. She says MAMA, DADA and CAT.
She is the love of our lives!!! Image Attachment(s):

Re: Winter 08/Spring 09 Mommies-Updates
Shaylie will be 7 months on 8/9. Boy has time flew by. She is just a very happy baby and extemely active. Just like when she was in my belly. She's definately a people person - always smiling at people and when someone new holds her, she doesn't scream or cry. She's been sleeping through the night since 3 months.
She's babbling a lot and she's found her voice. She also makes a lot of raspberries. Its funny when she does it when she's upset because she sounds like Roger Rabbit
She loves her food all veggies & fruits and we've started her on meat and she's doing well with that.
She's not crawling yet, but when she's on her back in her crib, she's dig her heels and move on the back of her head. She's also sitting up but when she's proped up.
Shaylie is going through some phase that she's in hysterics when she's left alone. If I put her in her high chair to feed her and go into the kitchen, all hell breaks loose. The screaming & screetching, you would think I was beating the child. Even when I come back into the room, she's still in hysterics.

Re: Winter 08/Spring 09 Mommies-Updates
Wow, it is so great to read all of these wonderful updates.
Braedan is almost 8.5 months and the love of my life.
He is eating like a champ - loves his solids, table food, and his bottles. He drinks from the sippy as well but can kind of take it or leave it. His favorite things are vanilla yogurt, graham crackers, puffs, and PRUNES!
He has two teeth on the bottom, one on the top (not one of the front two ) There are three others on the top that are ready to break through any second.
He is into EVERYTHING! I can't leave him my himself for a second because I swear he'd somehow figure out how to swing from the ceiling fan. He is crawling everywhere and definitely knows when he is doing something "wrong." He'll make sure I'm looking and then do it anyway. I am in trouble! He's pulled himself up a few times, but still getting the hang of it. Worried I'm going to have an early walker on my hands!
He loves playing with his trucks, anything he can put in his mouth, and all things Sesame street. He is super curious and is always looking around, staring at people, and flirting with the ladies - young and old!
He waves hello when he's in the mood, has a few consonant sounds, and is constantly babbling, but no "words" yet. He is a super happy baby that is very mellow except when he is tired and man does he love to sleep! He goes to bed between 8-9pm and sleeps anywhere from 7:30-9:30am the next morning. He takes at least 2 solid naps a day (after not napping for the first 6 months, I think he is making up for lost time!)
It's amazing to watch him exploring the world...I can't get enough.
Here's some pics - haven't shared any in months! Thanks for letting me share.
