wipes question
did you use wipes right away with your newborn, or did you use something else? i want to go out and start stocking up on supplies in the next few months, but i read that sometimes its better to use wahclothes in the beginning. i was just wondering what everyone here did! Thanks!

Re: wipes question
I also started out with Pampers Sensitive wipes and my daughter got such a severe baby rash from them. It was a constant ongoing thing and we'd use washcloths when it got really bad -- then I switched to Huggies wipes which in my opinion are much softer and she hasn't had a rash since.

Re: wipes question
Joseph was a preemie - so the neonatalogist told us just to use white paper towels with water for the first few weeks.
Maddie - no one said anything so we used wipes right away.

Re: wipes question
In the hospital, we were given paper towel type things that we needed to wet. We took a bunch home with us and used them until they ran out, two weeks later maybe...if that. Then we switched to the Pampers Sensitive, and we still use them.

Re: wipes question
We also used paper in the hospital but switched to wipes as soon as we got home.
We used the pampers unscented (still do).

Re: wipes question
I used the soft clothe like paper from the hospital. They gave me amonths supply and used them that long since I was told to by the ped. After that used pampers sensitive wipes in the warmer.

Re: wipes question
We used cotton pads and water for the first two weeks, we were advised by the midwives in hospital to use that for at least 4 weeks, but after 2 weeks I called my BTDT friend and asked her...am I going to kill this baby if I switch to wipes? and started to use Pampers sensitive wipes. It was fine. Now I prefer Huggies though, they are thicker

Re: wipes question
I didn't use commercial wipes until my daughter was 9 months old, but it appears that I was a bit over-cautious on this one! (I used Viva paper towels and water.)

Re: wipes question
My son turned 3 months last week and I just started using wipes. I am using the Huggies Newborn. Before this, I used either cotton balls or the cotton rounds that women use to take off their make-up.

Re: wipes question
From the day she came home from the hospital. I used the Pampers ones that were given to me at my shower. Then I bought the Kirkland ones from Costco. She has no irritation from them.

Re: wipes question
I just used wet cotton balls for about 2 weeks and then started using unscented sensitive wipes and she got a rash so we continued with wet cotton balls for another 2 weeks.... she's a year old and I still can't use any wipes with shea or any kind of scent or she gets a rash, we can only use the sensitive unscented ones.

Re: wipes question
I used wipes right away. I wouldn't suggest you stock up too much. I know I like certain kinds better than others and glad I didn't have cases of ones I didn't like. I found some were linty and some made his tushy red.

Re: wipes question
Our pediatrician said no wipes until he was 6 weeks old. We used wet paper towels which was PITA. I was so happy to switch over to wipes at 6 weeks. We use Huggies Natural Care and I'm very happy with them.
