With winter approaching- do/did you use a Bundle Me in the infant seat?
Are we not supposed to?
I thought I read they were unsafe in the carseats.
Yet I know a ton of people use them.
Plus I can't imagine them being able to sell a product if it was really that unsafe ya know?
Just curious what everyone else does.

Yes, a ton of people use them. My BFF is a pediatrician and uses them.
That said, I don't/won't. Peds are not expert in carseat safety and neither are any of my friends/family that have used the bundle me's. I am following the experts' advice and won't be using one. I'll use the ones that go over the carseat (like the posh pouch) instead. My SIL had this and said it was perfect for winter, baby was always warm, very easy to use, etc.
To be completely honest, I'm not sure the bundle me truly is UNSAFE in a carseat, but knowing that it's not recommended by experts, I just personally don't want to take the chance that it will be my baby that God forbid had an issue with it if were were to be in an accident or something.

I used this. It goes over the carset instead so no messing with the straps or anything. You can find it at BBB.

I bought the Kiddopotamus CozyUp Carrier Cover from BBB which goes over the carseat.

We used the Bundle Me last winter and absolutely LOVED it! It is recommended that nothing go under the straps, but it's pretty thin, and as long as it lays completely flat and you make sure to tighten the straps all the way, it's perfectly fine, IMHO. I have also heard that it is the safest of any of that type of thing.

Bundle me's are unsafe in carseats. They reroute the harness and create an unsafe layer of padding between the seat and the baby. This can introduce slack into the harness even if you think it is tight enough it may not be. It may also reroute the harness to a position that is dangerous (for instance, the hip portion up along the abdomen).

As for the "pretty thin" statement, Graco once recalled a car seat over less than 1/4" of extra padding because it proved to be a danger. 1/4" isn't that much when you think about it.
The decision to use one is of course up to you, but I personally choose not to. IMHO, my child is not a crash test dummy and I'd prefer to err on the side of caution and listen to the experts who've advised against them. There must be a reason that NO CPST out there endorses a Bundle Me and, in fact, most are vehemently against them.
Oh, and FWIW? I do own a Bundle Me. It is awesome in the stroller. I also own a shower cap style cover that I purchased at Babies R Us.

i feel like i have seen this subject come up a million times. and over and over again, it is talked about how the bundle me is unsafe in a carseat.
i don't understand why anyone would still want to use one in a carseat knowing that they are not safe???

It is the same debate as moving your child forward facing before they reach the weight limit of the car seat, to some the benefits outweigh the risks and to others they do not.

Because we have a god given right on how to take care of our baby the way we want to...If they were so dangerous, why weren't they recalled like the cribs and strollers and pacifiers and etc. There is no baby product in the world that is 100% safe. If you use the item the right way, there shouldn't be a problem. It is when baby products are used incorrectly that there is a higher chance for a problem to occur...I used one when DS was a baby. I never had a problem with it. I followed the directions and made sure the straps were on DS the right way...To each is their own...Don't make someone feel bad because YOU don't approve of an item...

we have one, but i dont think im going to use it... i didnt realize how much went into it to put it on & it just seems like such a hassle
im going to keep it around incase i end up eating my words lol

I used a Posh Pouch. BEST.THING.EVER! I know someone who had to take her BundleMe out at the hospital because they were told it was unsafe.

I know you are not supposed to. I am crazy paranoid with many things you aren't "supposed to" but this was one thing I still used. I won't use a bulky jacket, so this seemed like the lesser evil.

I used it.
I didnt have one and saw a friends. Had to get one. So much easier.
Honestly, I didnt velcro it under the straps. Just left them to the sides. I had trouble getting them under the straps.
I plan on using it for this baby too.

SAME. I loved it so much that I got the toddler bundle me for the stroller and it's just as great. Honestly my son was born last November I used it everyday until March best thing ever.

You can use it in the stroller too...There were days I would take DS out for a walk and just use the stroller. It worked great in there...
