Wondering about gifts when both kids are invited to a B'day party
If you have 2 kids and both are going to a birthday party, do you get 2 gifts for the birthday kid, or at least spend more if you only give one from both your children?
I like to spend $20-30 for a gift depending on how close we are to the family. I feel like if BOTH my kids are going to a birthday party I should spend $40-50, so each of them brings a gift to the birthday boy/girl.
I am apologize if I sound very materialistic, but I am just trying to explain my question the best I can...
Would love to hear what other moms of 2 think of this. Thanks!

Me personally I usually do spend a little more when both of my kids(or now all 3) will be going to a party. I wouldn't necessarily double the amount but i would spend more than i would if just one child was going. KWIM

I spend more to get a single better present. I figure they are getting a pile of $20 gifts already, so getting them a more expensive single toy is more fun.

I usually spend more if I am bringing more kids regardless of where it is - would do the same if it's at home or at a place. I don't know if you have to double it but maybe add an extra $10 to what you'd spend. A $30-40 gift is pretty darn nice IMO. Most of the time when more than one kid is invited, I know the people pretty well so I am usually spending more anyway, KWIM?

Thank you, girls! I am always worried about things like that. I don't want to be cheap and yet I don't want to make the mother feel uncomfortable because I overspent...

Exactly!
That's why I would like to spend more in this case: we are not super close with the family, but they are definitely way more than just a family of a boy with whom my son goes to school. We have known them for a few years and the boys have been friends before they ended up being classmates.

I agree. If you have 2 kids going, it should be 2x the present. After all, if it is a place, they are paying for 2 heads too.
