Re: Wood Stove or Pellet Stove . Which is the better of the two?

We have a wood stove insert in our fireplace and love it. The good thing about the wood stove is we get alot of our firewood for free so we dont have to buy pellets. We just bought a log splitter so no more chopping. But we have had landscaping companys drop the stuff off for free or we find it on craigslist. We never even have to turn our heat on when using the woodstove. I think we will be lighting ours today.Chat Icon

We have had a pellet stove for several years. its very easy to use and we save $$$ on oil by using it. We buy our pellets by the ton which lasts all winter.

My parents have had a wood stove, and they recently went the pellet route and love it.

It saves them a lot of money on oil.

I overheard a chimney guy & a solar energy panel installer guy talking at a networking event I was at & they both said pellet. I wasn’t really in the conversation & I wasn’t in the market so I didn’t ask them why.

we got the wood stove insert in our fire place. both comparable in price but pellet has working parts inside.

our main reason we got the wood stove is bc if something breaks mechanically in the pellet its an additional cost to fix. the wood stove insert s just that - nothing mechanical
either one you get you save a lot in heating costs!

My parents have a wood stove and love it. It's just a lot of work to stack the wood and split it. So it is some work.
