words at 12 months?

How many words did your DC have at 12 months. My DS just turned 1 and says mom, mama, da, and used to use baba more but not very much anymore....that's it though he doesn't really say anything else.....the doctor didnt say much about it but I'm not sure if that is normal. He seems to point more and reallg babble as thoguh he is trying to say soemthing not sure if that makes sense....He has a great comprehension though.

DS babbles constantly. He says mama, dada, papa, baba, mom(but I think mom is unintentional)...but I dont really consider those words.

His only words are daddy, duck and quack. But he is trying to same more and more....he tries to say nonna, and ei ei o when I sing old mcdonald.

I don't think there is a number for 12 months. As long as your DC babbles that is fine. It seems from what you've said DS is doing fine.

at 12 months my DD only said "dada" and "uhoh" She added "mama" at about 15 - 16 months and finally exploded close to 20 months.

My ped repeatedly told me not to worry until she was 2. He was right - even though she really didn't have many words until 20 months she was speaking in 2 - 3 word sentences by 24 months. It all just happened SO fast!!!

Kaydyn will be 12 months this week and she says dada, baba, what's that (says wassat?), says boom when she falls and that's it.

She babbles and yells a ton.

Kristina will be 12 months on 2.11, and says

mama
up (when she wants to)
no (when she wants to)


it's more yelling and babbling A LOT! She comprehends though what things are, and I think that's more important than what words she is/isn't saying right now.

If I ask her where Charlie bear is, she will look all around the floor for him, and will race over to grab him, and pick him up and kiss him.

Yesterday I left her in her highchair with binkie in appropriate place ... washed the dishes, and came back, and she was looking at me all big eyed. My mother was sitting there watching this all go down....

I asked her.... Kristina - where is your binkie? The child just looked at me.... and then proceeded to look down at the table, and just THINK ( I swear to you this child was thinking )... A couple more times of asking her.... Kristina - WHERE is your binkie??????????? She smiles at me, reaches under the table of the highchair and produces asked for BINKIE!

She's great stuff!
