Work Advice...long..
I have posted before that I have been at my new job for a month and altho it is ok I just don't love it. I actually cant believe they are paying me (as much as they are) for the work I do b/c it is so BORING. It is one month and I am bored.. After learning what the job is--I basically see that it is the same thing EVERYDAY..alot of data entry...
Anyway I recently learned of a position at my old company in a different division that I would be great for...someone in HR actually contacted me...but I need to submit a cover letter and I am not sure how I should (or if I should word) leaving the company and now my desire to come back...
Plus 'if' this turned into something substantial--would i look like the biggest LOSER going back to my old company...
SIGH..i am so confused...and I just wanted to state the only reason I left my old job is b/c my position at the time was so low in salary and they had major changes that were stopping me from getting a raise and being promoted in that specifiic department..

I would go for it- what do you have to lose? I could be wrong here, but i personally would not mention having left in the cover letter. If you are called for an interview, that is the time to address it.

I don't think you would look like a loser goung back ... for a job they contacted you for and better money than was available when you were still working there.
I say do what will make you happy.

Re: Work Advice...long..
It's more important in the long run to be happy than to feel stupid....it may feel weird in the beginning but you and the other people will get over it in a few days...I went back to my old company once and some people never even realized I left Just emphasize the fact that you really enjoyed working there but are ready for a new challenge and are in it for the long run. If I were interviewing you I would want to be sure you weren't going to "jump ship" again in a few months.

Um, don't you know that's what people do here - there are so many people that leave and come back in my division - it's kind of become a running joke that you don't know what you've got 'til it's gone!
FM me if there's anything I can do to help.

Re: Work Advice...long..
One of my co-workers did that, and it's great to have her back! She wasn't happy with her postion & her manager, but the job she left for didn't work out, and then there was some turn over here & she was offered a position above her old one and she has been back for about 2 years.
In your cover letter, just mention that you enjoyed working for the company, but you left because you didn't see an opportunitiy for growth in your pervious postion, and you feel that this positon will offer the challenge you are looking for.
