Work dilemma.

I know I will not be coming back to work after the baby is born.

I planned on telling my job right at the end of my leave (I get 90 days at full pay) that I'm not coming back. I've worked here for 5 years and endured some unfair changes over the past year. They are just now coming to rectify the issues I was complaining about. I had no problem taking the leave and then quitting before I'm supposed to return, but now that they are fixing things and actually going an extra mile to fix one issue I feel like this might not be the right thing to do.

What would you do, should I take the leave or be upfront and tell them my last day will be about a week before my due date?

I think you should stick to your original plan regardless of the fact that they are trying to rectify your problems years later...do whats best for YOU!

Not pregnant, but I know how I would handle - def. don't tell them. You put in 5 yrs. You deserve those 90 days of pay. Plus, what if something changes in your situation during that time and you actually need to go back. It may be a 1% chance that that may happen, but I would leave the option open. You have to do what's best for you - not them. Chat Icon

I think you should stick to your original plan. Just look at it like this, you put in the time and dealt with a lot of BS. You deserve your leave. Companies expect this to happen. No worries.

Very good point - I never even considered a change in our situation. If DH lost his job or something I may need to come back.

ITA 100% don't burn the bridge until YOU'RE ready and it's on your terms. You've earned that leave after 5 yrs of hard work. Sit back and enjoy!!!

Re: Work dilemma.

I personally wouldn't leave that way, especially if you decide at some point that you would like to go back and work part time or if you go for another job and need them as a reference.

Considering you are very fortunate to have the 90 days of paid leave when many other women are required to take 6 weeks unpaid, I'd vote for taking the time. You're entitled to it, and you've worked hard for it.
Plus, you never know what coul dhappen to your financial situation....
My vote is to not feel guilty and take the time given to you!
