Work has seasonal flu shot but not mercury free - should I get it?
Sorry for yet another post on flu shots...I'm about 6 weeks along and in need of seasonal flu shot. My dr. said to get the mercury free one if available but that it's ok to get regular one b/c the amt of mercury in one shot is the same in one tuna fish sandwich.
They are giving them out here at work but don't have the mercury free one. DH wants me to try and get mercury free one elsewhere...I just want to get it here at work - much more convenient.
Just looking for some opinons please... Thanks!

I think you are going to get quite the mixed opinion on here. I believe there are a lot of women who are not getting the flu shot at all.
I am currently 33 weeks and am getting the seasonal flu shot. I was supposed to go this morning with DH but our doctor's grandmother died and we had to reschedule for Friday.
I cannot find the mercury free shot ANYWHERE! I have called Walgreens, CVS, doctor's office, you name it and everyone is out of the mercury free one. My OB office said that they have no issues with me getting the one with preservative in it.
So, to answer your question, yes, I will be getting the flu shot on Friday that does contain the preservative.

I would probably get it - they are getting very difficult to find and if your ob is ok with it.
We were supposed to have it in our office on Fri as well but, our vendor postponed due to supply issues. People are looking long and hard for the vaccine and are having problems finding it because a lot of other places are postponing/cancelling as well.

I called to make an appt for my flu shot with my reg. doc. He said he doesnt have the preservative free version and wont give me my shot unless he gets a note from my OB that its ok.
he said a pediatricians office would have it.

My doctor also told me I could get the regular one from my job. They are out of the mercury free one and I've been calling every few days and so far they have none and dont know when they will get it in.
So I'm probably just going to get the regular one sometime this week.
