Working/living in the city
is just as safe (or unsafe, depending on your view) today as it was on 9/11.
the simple fact is, it is VERY hard to predict, let alone stop, a terrorist attack.
even harder in this country than in others prone to terroristic violence (London, Dublin, Belfast, the whole country of Israel) b/c of all of the "rights" and "liberties" we have and fiercely protect.
I work about 5 blocks away from Ground Zero. I have worked on litigation concerning 9/11 since I came to this office.
I understand that TODAY is a day that has people thinking more, but today is no more dangerous than any other day.
Sadder yes.
and if it makes you reach out to your loved ones more, great...but try not to fret for them more.
today is anyday. or everyday. except it hurts more.
my thoughts and prayers are with everyone that is hurting today, and with my beautiful city...the wound is still far from closed.

It's true; well said. But this day just makes me a tad nervous; I can't really help it. And with DH working at NYSE, which is and has been a target for years; I don't know. I get scared.

Re: Working/living in the city
I'm right here with you- I'm on Liberty- accross the street from the WTC and next to the ceremony.
It is SO sad today, I was so emotional walking through all those crying families and the words they were speaking of their loved ones. It's so devasting, it's really hard.

thank you...you know what freaks me? on the day, the place (nyse) went on lock down; no one could leave. then I think of all those people who died in the WTC who were told "not to leave...." I told DH, "You run, baby! You don't stay in there!" I don't know....
