Working Mom & Sick Baby!! vent

I work 15 minutes from home. I am there all week, same place. Sometimes I go to another local office, 20 minutes from home. About 2x a YEAR, I have to go to our Hoboken office for a meeting. Yesterday was one of those days.

I am in the car (car service - I didn't drive), and I get the dreaded call from daycare. Tommy has a 102 fever I can't turn back around. So they said they would give him Tylenol and keep him until I could get there. So I had to sit through a meeting thinking about my sick baby, then race back to my office, race to the daycare..byt the time I got there it was 3pm (she called me at like 1130am) and then race to the Ped.

He has a double ear infection. My mom is with him today because I am off all week next week and I have so much to do here at work.

Sometimes I just can't stand it..my baby needs me and I feel pulled in a million different directions

This is one of the 2 or 3 things that give me pause as a WM-most of the time I am confident in my decision to be a WM and the choices we are making for our family. Even still, it is so so hard

It is so hard! I work in the city so I am never able to just pick them up when they are sick. I have my DH and my mom on standby.

That's the worst. At least he's home today with grandma. I work close to Mason's daycare, but a lot of parents work in the city b/c the train station is right by the school. At least I can drive there. I can't imagine what parents do when they get that phone call.

My heart drops when I see the school's name on my Caller ID.

Yeah it is hard. For us we both work and we are less than 15mins from home and daycare. There have been times she's been sick and I just can NOT take the day off. So Jim has to do it.

Its really hard. Sometimes we've even shared the day off meaning he'll take the shift from notification to 1pm then go back to work and I'll take 1pm to end of day.

Thankfully even with ALL her ear infections (she got them nearly monthly) she's only been sent home 2-3 times for a whole day. The other times its been late enough in the day that its not been that big of a deal.

I always figure, as long as she's being cared for either at daycare or home, Its going to be ok. If she's crying and fussy and mad even better, I know she's just gonna get through it. I get freaked out when she's lethargic and generally non responsive. Then I seriously drop all things and run to her side.

Thankfully my job makes the money to pay for the insurance for the pediatrican, pays for the daycare that watches her every change in temp, that pays us even if we take a day off work, that pays for us to buy all those meds or other things to make her comfy, that pays for me to be able to know I can come home and care for my darling without fear of losing that job that puts food on our table and a roof over our head.

oh no Jen!! I had no idea it was such an awful day for you! I'm soooo sorry! That had to be sooo awful for you!

Feel better soon sweet little Tommy! And hang in there Mommy!! I know how you feel...it's so helpless. That one month where Riley was sick every day was the most stressful of my life...it's so hard when you have obligations at work too!

I know exactly how you feel. That drive to the daycare to pick them up when they are sick is the WORST. We do the best we can every day though and give them lots of kisses when we get home. Hope your LO feels better soon!

Yes, it 100% truly sucks when we have to leave our sick babies and go to work.
