Working Moms and Lunch Breaks
Do you do as much as you can on your lunch breaks?
I think I do all my shopping (except food) on lunch breaks. No Mason so I try and fit in as much as possible in an hour (sometimes longer since I work in a small sales office and my boss is far away )
Best thing about working in Woodbury is the shopping so close... Woodbury Commons and Plainview... got Dennys, CP, Annie Sez, Gap, Bed Bath, etc
I did Hanukkah and Xmas all at lunch. Just thought about it b/c I have to go out and get myself something for Mason's b-day party. Although I do get a little sad when I see mom's walking around shopping with their babies

Re: Working Moms and Lunch Breaks
DEFINITELY! I run 99% of my errands on 3 days during my lunch hours. That way, I rarely have to schlep to the store on the weekend with DD, we get more play time. It's one of the few benefits of me working.
ETA: I work in an area close to BRU, Wal-Mart, TJ Maxx, Stop & Shop, etc....so I get all bases covered mostly too.

I used to work out during my lunch break - now I will probably pump during my lunch break.

1.) I work in the ghetto...
2.) I have never been able to take a lunch break.
BUT, I do think it is great that you are close to so much, I would totally yake advantage! Good Luck shopping!!!!

And having been on both sides of the coin (Having been both a WM and a SAHM), they envy you being able to get so much time to yourself without having to run out of a changing room with a screaming child, or with children running through the stores, kids telling you they are bored, running into random stores, kids hiding from you in said stores, making pretend they are mannequins in the window, grabbing random things that "mommy likes" hiding in the racks, somtimes running out of the store and setting off the alarms, hitting each other, baby losing their paci and crying, hungry baby, etc. lol

i do as much as I can during my lunch break. i try to work out every now and then but it always seems that I need to do errands 3-4 times a week. I do agree, on of the few benifits of working.

LOL! Thanks!
Funny... I remember at Annie Sez once there was this cute baby that a mom was pushing around I'm like... awe, I miss Mason. He's probably napping now or playing at daycare Then the kid started Screaming and I'm like... ok, glad Mason is with his teachers and playing

I usually do my food shopping the morning of my work from home day - I drop DS off at daycare at regular time and head straight to the foodstore - it's so empty and peaceful then!

Since DS goes to sleep at 7:30 I work out after I put him to sleep. When I get home I put on comfy workout pants, sports bra and tank and play with Mason, bath, bed, etc... then go straight to the treadmill and do a 20 - 30 min run b4 dinner.

Exactly!
I enjoy my lunch breaks soo much!!! I can workout, get my nails done (i can at least enjoy them without having a kid on my lap and another running around; and it's cheaper because the other two will want theirs done lol).. I can go to the bank, stores, shopping.. It makes life easier for me.
I hate going into the stores on the weekend. I will only go if it's a necessity!

Re: Working Moms and Lunch Breaks
When I was working I did not run errands, I went to the gym 3 times per week, ate at my desk the other 2 times unless i had to go run out and do something. they few times I shopped at the mall, it was hard for me to see all the SAHM w/ their kiddies

Re: Working Moms and Lunch Breaks
you know I wish I could but I work through lunch so I don't have to stay late.
I actually don't mind taking the little man with me shopping on the weekends. Yes, its MUCH easier without him, but he loves getting out and about.
But I commute to NYC. If I had a car to store my purchases I may think differently. I don't want to lug everything on the LIRR.

Good point. It's easy for me to just throw it in my trunk and leave it there till I get home.

Re: Working Moms and Lunch Breaks
No-I work in uptown Charlotte and there is no real shopping in the immediate area.
I do go for walks on my lunch-get some exercise in, but shopping is on the weekends or during the week at night. We don't always take the kids-sometimes we tag team.
Claire loves Target though. She's even starting to say, "need to buy more, need to go to Target "

Re: Working Moms and Lunch Breaks
I get a manicure or pedicure or come on lif lol. I try to work though my lunch too b/c I find that my lunch breaks are very expensive since I ended up "taking a walk" through macy's or some other store i should avoid.

Nope, I have an hour and I live less than 10 mins from my job. I go home and enjoy an hour of peace to myself and catch up on my Oprah!
