Whether its family or a sitter.....
How often do u call home to check on your DC a day?


What do u usuallly ask them?

MIL watches DS in my home. I do not call her at all. I call around 1:30 when I know DH is getting up from sleeping. I want to know what he is doing, how is he, what he ate, etc.

I work part time and my mom and MIL each watch ds 2 afternoons a week. I don't call at all, because I simply don't have a free minute. I teach dance and go from one class to the next. On Thursdays I go in early for a preschool class and have an hour break until my next class, so I di call my mom and see how DS is.

My SIL watches DS and I usually call once a day during lunch. I usually ask how he's doing. Did he eat well? Is he crabby today? Is he on schedule? Things like that. And I usually tell her to give him a hug and kiss from me.

We have a nanny watch DD two days a week in our home. In the beginning I called once a day to see how everything was going. I'd just say "Hi - how's DD - what's going on?" and the nanny would fill me in.

Now I dont call. I think in the beginning I called because I was nervous and missed DD. I still miss her - but I'm not nervous about her being in the nanny's care at all.

I have a nanny and call about 2 times a day.

I only work PT and my mom watches DS one day and my cousin the other day. I call my mom in the am to see what time he got up (yes, I have the BEST mother in the world and she has him sleep over every Sun night and watches him on Mon). I don't call my cousin at all unless he had a bad morning. I do have the luxury of going to my moms and cousins for my lunch hour though .

I babysit and the mom has never called. I email her during his naps with updates and pics.

I usually don't call. Sometimes she'll call me. But, it seems like every time I call he's napping. And if the phone rings when he is just starting or just finishing, he will wake up. So, for constant fear of waking him, I don't call.

Once a day and they usually give me the run-through...its my mom and SIL so we chat away anyway.

My mother or mother-in-law watch him. I usually only call once a day to see how things are going.

I never call. Take that back, I called once when I thought she might be getting sick to see how she was doing. I trust my childcare provider and don't want to micromanage. If I have a question or issue I just address it in person.

My MIL watches him and I don't call unless he is sick. Then I call once or twice to see how he's feeling. I do know that DH calls about 3-4 times a day though. He has a job where he has long breaks and nothing to do so he's always on the phone.

My MIL watches Jayden M/W/F and he goes to a babysitter on T/TH. I never call unless he was cranky in the the morning or had a rough night.

2 days MIL watches him and the other 2 he is at daycare. I usually call 2x a day.

My mom watches DD. I call maybe 2 times a day. My mom also calls me if she falls or does something funny.

I call once a day during lunch (unless theres a reason to call more, like if he hadnt been feeling well, or if I forgot to tell her something). I always ask how he is, what he ate and about how much. If he went to the bathroom. My babysitter is excellent, she is very thorough, and usually tells me the things they have been doing!

Awww Janice - you are the best. Move back to NY please and take care of Jack if I go back to work!

I have a nanny and I call once a day but more often than not she calls me so I dont disturb a nap and it's typically twice a day.

My MIL watches DD and I call once a day. We end up chit-chatting more than really going over DD's day anyway. I think my MIL likes it that I call, as my DH generally is the one to pick up DD from there and it gives me a chance to chat with my MIL too.

I never call. My mom watches them M-F. I drop them off at 845 and pick them up at 2-230. If there was an issue, she would call me. No need to bother her honestly.
